Keeping up with the trend of the digital transformation era, more and more tea shops, vegetable stalls, shoe shiners... in Hanoi are posting QR codes to help customers easily pay with bank accounts instead of cash.
At tea shops, vegetable stalls, etc., most shop owners post QR codes in convenient locations for customers to scan. According to shop owners, cashless payment is becoming a popular trend, chosen by many customers.
Many people when going out are often reluctant to find an ATM to withdraw money, while shop owners are willing to let customers pay via bank accounts, this is the reason why the use of QR codes has become more and more popular recently. Current banking applications help people create QR codes for their personal accounts. Therefore, printing and pasting a payment code at the counter is very easy and simple.
Payment via bank is being applied a lot in stores in Hanoi recently. Some places also offer discounts when paying via applications to encourage customers to use technology.
Most tea shops in Hanoi have activated QR codes for customers' convenience in payment.
A tea shop owner on Nguyen Tuan Street shared: “Many customers only drink a glass of iced tea for 5,000 VND, but they give me a 500,000 VND bill, and sometimes they don’t have money to give back, which is very inconvenient. Since activating the QR code for payment, I find it very convenient, and if anyone forgets to bring cash, they can transfer money.”
Ms. Trieu Thi Nga (Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi) said: “I was very worried about changing the payment method because I thought that QR code payment was complicated and difficult to do. I am also old and afraid that I am not knowledgeable about technology, so I might make mistakes or operate slowly, making customers unhappy. However, after my children and grandchildren showed me how to do it, I was very satisfied with this utility. Not having to carry a lot of cash makes me less worried about dropping, losing, or making mistakes.”
A young man scanned a QR code to pay after drinking iced tea. He shared: "Sometimes when I go out and forget to bring my wallet, I have to run back to get it. Since shops and cafes have popularized QR code payment, every time I go out, I just need to bring my phone to be able to use most services," he said.
Many shoe shiners also print QR codes or set QR codes as their phone wallpaper for customers to conveniently pay.
Delivery people and technology drivers also prepare QR codes for customers' convenience in payment.
Many stores post QR codes right at the entrance.
People can easily see QR codes posted at any store, big or small, in Hanoi.
