National Assembly Chairman congratulates Tet and gives gifts in Gia Lai province

During a visit and working session in Gia Lai province, on the afternoon of January 26, at the 2/9 Hall, Pleiku city, Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the Central Working Delegation extended New Year greetings and presented gifts to families of policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services, officers and soldiers of the armed forces, poor households, resistance fighters infected with Agent Orange/dioxin, workers and laborers in difficult circumstances... in Gia Lai province.

Also attending were members of the Party Central Committee: Secretary General of the National Assembly, Chairman of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong; Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam; Chairman of the National Defense and Security Committee Le Tan Toi; Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Ho Van Nien; leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, relevant agencies...

On the occasion of the New Year 2024, preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, the National Assembly Chairman sends his warmest regards and best wishes to the delegates and all cadres, soldiers, people, workers and laborers.

After summarizing the country's economic, social, and foreign affairs results in 2023; the efforts of the Party, State, and National Assembly in removing obstacles to promote national target programs, the National Assembly Chairman stated that contributing to the country's overall achievements, there were active contributions from the Party Committee, government, army, and people of Gia Lai province.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that Gia Lai has the largest natural area and the second largest population in the Central Highlands region. With the synchronous and drastic participation of the entire political system, in 2023, the province achieved many positive results in all fields. The total product in the province (GRDP) increased by 3.02% over the same period; GRDP per capita reached 59.08 million VND/person; total budget revenue reached more than 5,575 billion VND; export turnover reached 680 million USD. Many indicators increased compared to the same period in 2022, including the agricultural value increasing by over 7%, which is a very high effort.

Located in the North of the Central Highlands, in the Development Triangle area, Gia Lai has an important strategic position with more than 80,000 km of border adjacent to Ratanakiri province (Cambodia). In recent times, the situation of territorial sovereignty, national border security, political security, order and social safety have been maintained stably.

The province pays special attention to policy families, meritorious people, etc.; is making efforts to have more resources to support disadvantaged households during this Tet holiday; focuses on directing all levels, sectors, and localities to well implement social security policies, take care of people during Tet, and ensure that every family and every person can enjoy Spring and celebrate Tet.

The National Assembly Chairman said that, promoting the nation's fine tradition of mutual love and support, before each Tet holiday, the Party, the State, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, organizations and localities always pay attention and try to devote all resources and organize many practical and specific activities to take care of policy families, people with meritorious services, poor households, policy beneficiaries, workers and laborers in difficult circumstances... so that everyone and every family can enjoy the spring and celebrate Tet.

Acknowledging the province's efforts in taking care of the people during Tet, the National Assembly Chairman noted that Gia Lai should continue to create favorable conditions for production and business activities so that people can have more jobs and increase their income; increase the number of people paying social insurance and participating in health insurance. The province should pay attention to effectively managing and using agricultural and forestry land; and well implementing land policies for ethnic minorities as stipulated in the Land Law (amended) recently passed by the National Assembly, effective from January 1, 2025.

In the coming time, the National Assembly Chairman requested Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front and organizations in the whole province to thoroughly grasp and well implement Directive No. 26 of the Secretariat on organizing the Giap Thin New Year 2024; prepare the best conditions to serve people to enjoy spring, celebrate Tet joyfully, healthily, safely and economically.

The province continues to care for families with preferential policies, people with meritorious services, poor households, victims of Agent Orange, workers and laborers in difficult circumstances, etc.; regularly exchanges and listens to the opinions of the people and laborers, researches and develops mechanisms and policies to help and create conditions for each family and individual to develop their livelihoods and strive to escape poverty sustainably.

The National Assembly Chairman hopes that families with preferential policies, poor households, and people in difficult circumstances will continue to strive, rise up, actively work and produce, and gradually build a prosperous and happy life.

* On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary Ho Van Nien witnessed the leaders of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) presenting symbolic plaques to 200 Great Solidarity Houses (worth about 10 billion VND, mobilized from socialized sources) to poor households in the province.

The Chairman of the National Assembly and the Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee witnessed the Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam presenting a symbolic plaque of 300 million VND mobilized from socialized sources (Agribank) to ethnic minority households in difficult circumstances in Gia Lai province.
