The Ho Chi Minh City Statistics Office has just released data for August 2025, showing that the industrial production index in the first seven months of this year increased by 5.4%, the highest in the past three years.
The processing and manufacturing industry alone saw a sharp increase of 10% year-on-year, the highest in the past four years since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
This development continues to affirm the key role of the processing and manufacturing industry in promoting industrial growth in Ho Chi Minh City, the economic locomotive of the country. Many sectors in this group also recorded impressive growth such as printing, wood processing and production, electrical equipment, garment, etc.
In that context, the demand for labor recruitment has also increased significantly. Many businesses, especially those with foreign direct investment (FDI), prioritize recruiting highly skilled personnel, instead of just knowing simple skills.
For more than a month now, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau have officially merged into Ho Chi Minh City, creating momentum for the city to become a key industrial center with three strategic areas: high-tech industry, manufacturing and processing, and energy.
Regarding national data, according to the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ), in the first seven months of 2025, the industrial production index in 34 localities (after the merger) all increased compared to the same period last year, in which many places recorded high increases thanks to the breakthrough of the processing and manufacturing industry and the electricity production and distribution industry.
As of early July 2025, the number of workers in industrial enterprises continued to increase compared to the same period last year. The number of employees in state-owned, private and FDI enterprises all recorded an upward trend.
By sector, the labor force in the processing and manufacturing industry increased sharply. Meanwhile, some industries such as electricity production and distribution recorded a slight decrease.
