Some firefighters suffered minor injuries, according to Darren Klemm, the state’s commissioner of fire and emergency services. He said 150 firefighters were battling the blaze and it could take several days to bring it under control.

The fire started on the afternoon of November 22 at a pine plantation on the northeastern edge of Perth, Western Australia.

"Perth is experiencing hot conditions. As a result, our firefighters and support staff are working in very challenging conditions," the WA Fire Service said. "The conditions and environment make control very difficult and complex."
