For about 2 months now, every 2pm, Le Quoc (in Chau Phu commune, An Giang province) has been in the kitchen, personally cooking a series of dishes to treat the construction workers who are helping him complete his new house.
Even though it is just a snack in the afternoon, each dish is meticulously prepared by Quoc with ingredients ranging from rustic to high-quality such as Quang noodles, beef pho, seafood vermicelli, shrimp and pork rice noodles...
There are even many meals where he uses squid, crab, lobster, etc. to cook, presenting the dishes as sumptuously as a restaurant menu or banquet.

Sharing with VietNamNet reporter, Quoc said that his family started building a new house in mid-June. Depending on the construction phase, there will be about 6-16 workers working here every day.
“At noon, the construction workers will be proactive and take care of their own meals. In the afternoon, I will go into the kitchen to cook a snack for everyone to eat,” Quoc said.
The young man said that because he had worked as a construction worker, he understood the hardships of the workers. He wanted to do something to treat them better, so he came up with the idea of cooking and supporting them.

In the morning, Quoc would go to the market, buy fresh ingredients and prepare them. In the afternoon, around 2-2:30 p.m., he would go into the kitchen and prepare the food himself.
In addition to the dishes his wife helped him with, Quoc also cooked based on suggestions from the construction workers. Whatever they wanted to eat, he would cook it, every day.
The young man said that since he was young, he has lived independently and is used to cooking, so he can memorize how to prepare many dishes and has no difficulty in the kitchen.
From beef pho, Thai seafood vermicelli, Quang noodles, duck bamboo shoot vermicelli, shrimp and pork rice vermicelli, meatball sandwiches to grilled duck with mac mat leaves, seafood fried noodles, crab soup..., he cooks them all skillfully and confidently.
Even for some dishes, the Western guy uses quality ingredients to process such as Ca Mau crab, lobster, squid. These are all nutritious seafood with high prices.

He affirmed that cooking comes from the heart and does not focus too much on cost.
He hopes that nutritious snacks will not only help workers have more energy to work, but also send thanks and encouragement to them for not being afraid of difficulties to stick with the profession and beautify the works.

Quoc said that to ensure the quality and flavor of the food, each dish will have its own way of serving. For dishes with broth, he uses a gas stove to heat them up on the spot and serves them in ceramic bowls.
Dried foods are neatly packaged in paper boxes, easy to use and convenient to clean up after eating.

In addition to the familiar dishes of the Western people, he also shows off his talent in preparing many new dishes or delicious dishes from the Central and Northern regions, with attractive flavors. For each dish, he tries to find all the ingredients and cooks it 80-90% standard compared to the original version.
“The construction workers felt excited and comfortable when they enjoyed the snack. They even joked that the food I cooked was better than at home. Some even joked that if they went to work elsewhere, they would miss my cooking,” Quoc shared.
Not only treating them to snacks, the young man also thoughtfully prepared refreshing drinks or occasionally invited the workers to a simple breakfast like bread.
If he is busy, he will ask his family to buy some local delicacies to treat them.
