The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Yemen came to an end amid the impatience of the fans at Viet Tri Stadium. If they did not win 3 points, Coach Troussier and his team would miss the chance to advance early. At that time, everything would have to be decided in the final round and no one knew what could happen.

Coach Troussier sent forward Bui Vi Hao onto the field. Just a few minutes into his appearance, the 20-year-old youngster chose a smart position and headed the ball into the net of U23 Yemen. U23 Vietnam won narrowly but it was enough to secure a place in Qatar next year.

This was not Vi Hao's first goal, as he had previously scored in the opening match against U23 Guam. But clearly, this goal had a different importance and made fans pay attention to the factor that coach Troussier called "the player who finished the match".

Bui Vi Hao possesses all the qualities of a modern striker.

Bui Vi Hao possesses all the qualities of a modern striker.

But those who follow V-League are familiar with the name Bui Vi Hao. He is one of the few players in the U23 and even U20 groups who regularly play in the highest league of Vietnamese football. In the past two seasons, Vi Hao has always played at least 20 matches per season for Binh Duong Club.

This number is really impressive because Vi Hao plays in the same position as the top striker of the Vietnam national team, Nguyen Tien Linh. Not to mention, Binh Duong Club uses foreign strikers in the attack line such as Rimario or Eydison. Although he does not score many goals, the matches in V-League are really valuable experiences for the player who has just turned 20.

To get Bui Vi Hao, Binh Duong Club had to compete with PVF when this player was only 18 years old. At the 2021 National U19 Finals, Bui Vi Hao and his hometown team An Giang reached the semi-finals before losing to U19 PVF.

The director of PVF football center at that time, Mr. Vu Tien Thanh, had his eyes on this player. He watched many matches in the final round and paid attention to the young player with an impressive height of up to 1m70 of U19 An Giang. He decided to borrow the player born in 2003 to PVF to compete in the Second Division.

" He is a well-rounded player, good with his feet and good with his header. When he first came to PVF, he looked quite studious, so we focused on developing Vi Hao's physique. Currently, he is 1m80 tall, which is an ideal physique for a striker, " Mr. Vu Tien Thanh shared.

Coach Vu Tien Thanh feels regretful that in 2021, tournaments were stopped due to the epidemic. Therefore, Vi Hao did not have many opportunities to perform with the team in the Second Division.

In 2022, in addition to PVF, Vi Hao received another invitation from Binh Duong. Before the opportunity to compete in V-League, Vi Hao decided to leave An Giang to seek further advancement in his career.

Vi Hao's first goal in the V-League was in the match against HAGL on July 20, 2022. This player chose a smart position behind the defenders to tap the ball into the empty net. That is also a characteristic of Vi Hao's style.

" Bui Vi Hao is a player with a special way of playing football, good vision and movement. I am not surprised by his goal against U23 Yemen because he has done it many times before. He is the future of Vietnamese football ," said Mr. Vu Tien Thanh.

Bui Vi Hao is a familiar face in the national teams, from the U18, U19, U20 and now U23. Vi Hao played impressively in the 2023 U20 Asian finals, but then he was not on the list to attend the 32nd SEA Games.

However, this strong comeback with a goal against U23 Yemen will open up a bright future for the 20-year-old player.
