Three students from ENSICAEN University were assigned to do internships at research units under the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology, under the direct guidance of Dr. Le Xuan Chung, Dr. Do Cong Cuong, and Dr. Pham Nhu Viet Ha, who are experienced staff in the fields of nuclear physics and nuclear energy.
At the Center for Nuclear Physics, student Tarjus Aude Sarah Claire, under the guidance of Dr. Do Cong Cuong, carried out the topic: "Research on direct nuclear reactions with light nuclei" and student Genin Raphaël Vincent Mathieu, under the guidance of Dr. Le Xuan Chung, conducted the research on the topic "Data processing of nuclear reaction experiments ¹¹B(p, α)⁸Be performed using proton beams from accelerators" . During their internship at the center, the students learned about the theory of direct nuclear reactions, especially the theory of nuclear scattering. At the same time, the students were also introduced to software for analyzing experimental data in nuclear physics.

At the Nuclear Energy Center, student Adrien Lefebure was guided by Dr. Pham Nhu Viet Ha to research the topic: "Research and application of the IAEA's INPRO methodology in safety assessment of advanced nuclear reactors, and at the same time approach some nuclear reactor simulation calculation tools using the Monte Carlo method" . Students learned and approached the INPRO methodology of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in safety assessment of nuclear reactors, and at the same time became familiar with some reactor simulation calculation tools using the Monte Carlo method. At the end of the internship, students grasped the safety assessment methodology according to international standards and practiced calculations to complete research tasks.

During the internship, the students participated in analyzing experimental data, approached modern computational models and had in-depth discussions with the Institute's research staff. In addition to the specialized knowledge acquired, the internship also brought the French interns memorable experiences about the cuisine , culture, traditions, people and country of Vietnam.
After four months of internship and work, the instructors highly appreciated the students' spirit of learning and sense of responsibility, and expressed their desire to continue expanding cooperation and welcoming more international students to study and research in Vietnam.
The direct internship program through topics/tasks at the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology not only contributes to improving the research skills of international students but also provides an opportunity for the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology to strengthen training cooperation and international exchange between the unit and foreign training institutions. This is a clear demonstration of the international integration capacity of the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology and the companionship in training high-quality scientific and technical human resources in the nuclear field for domestic and foreign students.
