Latest update on Red River flood in Hanoi: Flood is receding but still below alert level 3

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 6:00 a.m. on September 12, the flood on the Red River in Hanoi is showing signs of receding.

Current flood developments show that floods on Cau River (Bac Ninh Province), Thuong River (Bac Giang Province), and Thai Binh River (Hai Duong City) are rising.

Floods on the Thao River in Yen Bai and Phu Tho are receding. Floods on the Lo River in Tuyen Quang and Vu Quang are receding.

Floods on the Hoang Long River (Ninh Binh Province) are changing slowly. Floods on the Luc Nam River (Bac Giang Province) are changing slowly.

Water level details at 6:00 a.m. September 12, on rivers as follows:

On Thao River in Yen Bai 31.41m, below alarm level 3 is 0.41m; in Phu Tho 17.42m, below alarm level 1 is 0.08m;

On Cau River at Dap Cau, the flood is receding; on Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong, it is standing still; on Luc Nam River at Luc Nam, it is rising 6.33m, 0.03m above alarm level 3;

On the Lo River in Tuyen Quang, it is falling at 25.07m, 0.93m below alert level 3; on the Hoang Long River in Ben De, it is rising to 4.61m, 0.61m above alert level 3; on the Thai Binh River in Pha Lai, it is standing at 6.17m but 0.17m above alert level 3;

The flood on the Red River in Hanoi is at 11.24m, trending down, currently 0.26m below alert level 3.

It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, the flood on Thao River in Yen Bai will continue to drop to alert level 2. The flood on Lo River in Tuyen Quang and Vu Quang will drop below alert level 3.

Floods on the Cau River continue to rise above alert level 3. Floods on the Thuong River will change slowly above alert level 3. Floods on the Luc Nam River will change slowly above alert level 3. Floods on the Thai Binh River continue to rise above alert level 3. Floods on the Hoang Long River will change slowly above alert level 3.

Floods on the Red River in Hanoi will change slowly above alert level 2 and below alert level 3.

In the next 12-24 hours, the flood on Thao River in Yen Bai will continue to drop to alert level 1. The flood on Lo River in Tuyen Quang and Vu Quang will drop below alert level 2. The flood on Cau River will change slowly above alert level 3. The flood on Thuong River will change slowly above alert level 3.

Floods on the Luc Nam River will change slowly at alert level 3. Floods on the Thai Binh River will change slowly above alert level 3. Floods on the Hoang Long River will change slowly above alert level 3. Floods on the Red River in Hanoi will change slowly at alert level 2.

Warning of flood pressure on the downstream of the Red - Thai Binh river system

Warning, in the next 24 hours, water levels at downstream stations of the Red River - Thai Binh river system will rise to alert level 3 and above alert level 3.

Rising flood water levels cause flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, alluvial areas outside the main dike, causing the riverbank dykes to overflow, and landslides of dykes and embankments that can seriously affect vulnerable locations along rivers in the following provinces/cities: Hanoi, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh.

Flooding in low-lying areas along rivers in the provinces of Lang Son, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Hoa Binh; flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in the mountainous areas of the North.

Flood disaster risk warning level: Level 3.
