On January 8, Mr. Le Quoc Anh - Secretary of Phu Quoc City Party Committee, Kien Giang province said that the Department of Transport and related units have reported and submitted a plan to put Phu Quoc International Passenger Port into operation in mid-February 2025 (on January 17, Lunar New Year 2025).

To prepare for the international passenger port to come into operation, Phu Quoc City People's Committee will make a plan to assign tasks to specialized units and departments. The departments are responsible for timely and effective coordination in accordance with maritime safety laws when receiving ships.

Phu Quoc is expected to welcome three international cruise ships in the near future, including the AIDAstella on February 14; the Costa Serena on February 16-17; and the Costa Serena on February 20...

The Secretary of Phu Quoc City Party Committee added: "Currently, Phu Quoc International Passenger Port has not yet completed some construction items such as the terminal and other auxiliary works. The province will carry out the architectural design competition for the terminal and construct other auxiliary items in early 2025 and temporarily install a temporary operating system, ensuring compliance with regulations."

Phu Quoc International Passenger Port started construction in 2015, phase (2015-2025) with an area of ​​180 hectares (terminal 2.8 hectares) with a total initial investment of 1,644 billion VND, the scale of the breakwater is 800m long.

The port can accommodate cargo ships up to 15,000 tons, international passenger ships with a capacity of 5,000 to 6,000 passengers. This will be the first multi-functional international passenger port meeting international standards in Vietnam.

When Phu Quoc International Passenger Port comes into operation, it will be the driving force to connect with Phu Quoc International Airport, creating a complete transport infrastructure system with international regional connectivity.
