On October 29, speaking with Kinh te va Do thi newspaper, Mr. Tran Hieu Hung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, said that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has decided to develop the project of the Ca Mau shrimp symbol and the project of upgrading Le Duan Street (section in front of the conference center, about 200m long) into the investment project of building Phan Ngoc Hien Square, Ca Mau city. Accordingly, the decision to build the shrimp symbol is because this is a high-value economic product, playing a key role in Ca Mau seafood export.
The project is invested by the Traffic Construction Project Management Board, in coordination with Mr. To Minh Tan (author of the shrimp symbol) to choose the design and construction unit. The symbol is made of reinforced concrete, ceramic cladding, located in the middle of the square. The item is built right at the location of the existing Ca Mau shrimp symbol (this project serves the occasion of the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival, 2D form, the structure is mainly steel and aluminum). The new project will reuse the foundation, the upper part will be dismantled, the steel after dismantling will be liquidated according to regulations.

The total area of the project is more than 50,700 m2, including many works such as stage, artistic water fountain system, yard, internal road, lighting, water supply and drainage... This is a project to welcome the 17th Congress of Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee taking place at the end of 2025.
For many years, Ca Mau has maintained export turnover at 1 billion USD.
Ca Mau province is over 5,300 km2 wide, with about 1.2 million people, in the Mekong Delta. The land is blessed by nature with many famous products, including shrimp with the largest farming area in the country, nearly 280,000 hectares, accounting for nearly 40% of the country's farming area. Shrimp has become a key industry that helps people get rich, making an important contribution to the local economy. For many consecutive years, Ca Mau has maintained an export turnover of 1 billion USD, mainly from shrimp, especially black tiger shrimp. With its geographical location on the alluvial Ca Mau peninsula, shrimp in this province has a unique quality, attracting many demanding markets in the world such as the US, Japan, and EU for decades. According to the province's plan, this locality strives to export shrimp to reach 1.4 billion USD by 2025.
According to many Ca Mau residents, the province's choice of the shrimp to build as a symbol at Phan Ngoc Hien Square in Ca Mau City is completely suitable in terms of aesthetics, urban beauty, tourism, economy... "Because for generations, Ca Mau has had a lot of shrimp and fish, it has become a tourism and geographical brand, especially bringing a living for tens of thousands of Ca Mau residents. In fact, the Ca Mau shrimp has long been an economic symbol in the hearts of the people" - said Mr. Nguyen Huu Tai, a resident of Ward 8, Ca Mau City.
