Ca Mau mobilizes resources to invest in facilities and improve education quality

GD&TĐ - On the afternoon of August 11, the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau province held a conference to summarize the 2024-2025 school year and deploy tasks for the 2025-2026 school year.

In Ca Mau province, 164/164 communes, wards and towns have completed the universal education program (UEP) for preschool children for 5-year-olds; UEP for primary school level 3, and illiteracy eradication level 2 by 2024.

The rate of mobilizing 5-year-old preschool children to attend class is over 98%; 5-year-old preschool children studying 2 sessions/day is over 96%; 5-year-old preschool children completing the Preschool Education Program is over 98.7%.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training has presided over and coordinated with localities to continue reviewing, planning and consolidating the network of preschool, primary, secondary and high school educational facilities in accordance with actual conditions. Many educational facilities have been invested in building new, renovating, upgrading facilities, adding classrooms and functional rooms to meet the learning needs of students.

The province currently has 771 units and schools, including 218 kindergartens (22 non-public schools); 317 primary schools (4 non-public schools); 174 secondary schools; 53 high schools (1 non-public school), 8 Continuing Education, Continuing Education-Vocational Education Centers and 1 Center for Supporting Inclusive Education, 6 colleges, 1 university and a university branch, with more than 400,000 students.

As of July 22, 2025, 628/731 schools met national standards, reaching a rate of 85.90%.

The quality of education in the province has many positive changes, clearly shown in both aspects: learning results and training of students. Compared to the previous school year, the rate of students achieving good and excellent results has increased significantly, at the same time, practical skills, independent thinking ability and proactive learning spirit have also improved significantly.

In the 2025 national excellent student exam results, the whole province had 39 students winning prizes, an increase of 5 prizes compared to 2024. In the 2025 high school graduation exam results, the province's graduation rate reached 99.41%, higher than the national average (99.21%).

In addition to the achieved results, the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau province also recognized the limitations and difficulties in implementing the tasks of the 2024 - 2025 school year. In particular, the biggest difficulty of the sector is the limited funding source for investment in facilities, equipment, and learning materials to meet the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program; the situation of local teacher surplus and shortage still occurs; the recruitment of teachers in localities is still slow, not all assigned positions have been recruited...

In the 2025-2026 school year, the Ca Mau Education and Training sector will continue to improve institutions, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of education; innovate school governance; innovate and improve the quality of preschool education, general education and continuing education; prioritize investment resources in facilities and teaching equipment for general education institutions in areas with difficult socio -economic conditions, ethnic minority areas, remote areas, coastal areas to ensure fairness in access to quality education for learners.

At the same time, the sector also develops a team of teachers and educational institution managers to meet the requirements of educational and training innovation; improves the efficiency of state budget use, mobilizes investment resources to strengthen facilities and improve the quality of education and training.

Innovate political and ideological education, national defense and security education, physical education, and school health; improve the quality of human resource training, especially high-quality human resources associated with scientific research and innovation; strengthen international integration; promote digital transformation and administrative reform in the field of education and training to successfully achieve the set targets.
