Czech U21 girls celebrate victory over Türkiye

On the afternoon of August 11, the 4th round of matches of Group C, Women's U21 World Volleyball Championship took place. According to the draw results, the teams of Group C and Group A (of Vietnam) will face each other in the round of 16.

Vietnam is considered to have secured the second place in Group A after losing 1-3 to Argentina this afternoon. Although there is still 1 round left, U21 Vietnam has 9 points, and certainly cannot be surpassed by the 3rd place team Puerto Rico (5 points).

Thus, the opponent of the U21 women's volleyball team of Vietnam in the round of 16 will be the 3rd place team of group C.

Group C is also the "group of death" of the tournament, gathering 4 extremely strong European teams: Italy, Poland, Türkiye and Czech Republic. If based on the world rankings for national teams, the above countries are ranked 1, 3, 6 and 13 respectively.

If only counting the U21 world rankings, Italy, Türkiye and Poland are ranked 2nd, 5th and 12th respectively, while the Czech Republic is ranked 25th - 1 place higher than Vietnam.

A surprise appeared in the 4th match when Czech, despite being considered inferior, defeated Türkiye with a score of 3-2. Thereby, Czech also rose to 3rd place, pushing Türkiye down to 4th place.

Vietnam's opponent in the round of 16 will be the third-placed team in Group C, currently the Czech Republic. Of course, the final result of Group C could change if there are any surprises in the final round.

But this is unlikely to happen because Türkiye has to face Italy - the second strongest team in the world at the moment, and the Czech Republic will also have difficulty beating Poland in the final round. If the Czech Republic and Türkiye both lose as predicted, the current rankings will remain the same.

Czech Republic is still considered an equal opponent for Vietnam, compared to Türkiye or Poland - both long-standing powers in women's volleyball.

The opportunity to continue and extend the historic adventure at the U21 Women's Volleyball World Championship of coach Nguyen Trong Linh and his team is therefore a bit higher.
