Binh Dinh: About 200 billion VND invested in space science research and application center

Binh Dinh has allocated about 200 billion VND to invest in and build the Space Science and Technology Research and Application Center project with the ambition to train and provide human resources, equipment, and technology in astronomy and space for the whole country and the Asian region.

On July 18, Mr. Nguyen Huu Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Dinh province confirmed that the People's Committee of this province has just directed the unit to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Planning and Investment and related units to soon study and build the project of the Center for Research and Application of Space Science and Technology.

Binh Dinh province has invested in a Center for scientific discovery and innovation in Quy Hoa valley.

According to Mr. Ha, the project is invested in Quy Hoa valley (Ghenh Rang ward, Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh), an area near Quy Nhon Center for Scientific Discovery and Innovation.

When put into operation, the project will help popularize the sciences of astronomy and aerospace with advanced equipment and learning materials. With the human resources developed from the Quy Nhon Center for Scientific Discovery and Innovation, it will be upgraded, attracting more experts, scientists, and lecturers to serve the training of human resources for the fields of astronomy and cosmology. Thereby, forming in-depth research groups in these two fields.

In the long term, the project will develop into a major hub for collecting and processing remote sensing images in the Central Highlands region. Thereby, it will participate in domestic and international research networks to inherit or link and transfer components, accessories, and equipment related to astronomy and space.

Mr. Ha added that to implement the project to achieve the above-mentioned results, it requires in-depth consultation with international experts and especially the Vietnam Space Center on technology, equipment, and learning materials. This project could be a network, chain link, and perform tasks serving the Vietnam Space Center.

Quy Hoa Valley is where the Vietnam Science and Technology Association has its center, gathering thousands of international scientists every year to hold conferences and present new research.

According to the Binh Dinh Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Binh Dinh continues to promote the construction and effective development of the Quy Hoa scientific urban area. Thereby, forming a regional innovation center in the South Central - Central Highlands region, physics and astronomy research institutes according to the development strategy, application of space science and technology.

In addition, the province will complete and put into operation the project of Artificial Intelligence Center, auxiliary urban area; form a physics and astronomy research institute and an environmental toxicology research center to conduct research to serve the activities of early warning of natural disasters and environmental protection...
