On June 15, Hoan My Binh Phuoc Hospital announced that it had just performed a rare cesarean section, when the baby was born in a "cashew sac".

Previously, at around 8am the same day, the hospital received a 32-year-old pregnant woman, living in Dong Phu District, Binh Phuoc, for examination and was advised by doctors to have a second cesarean section.

That same afternoon, the team of doctors performed a cesarean section. After 30 minutes of surgery, the entire surgical team was surprised when the baby girl was born with her amniotic sac still intact.

This is considered an extremely rare case, estimated to occur in only 1 in 80,000 births. In Vietnam, people also call this phenomenon "giving birth in a cashew bag".

Currently, the mother and baby are stable.

According to doctors, in the mother's womb, the fetus is in the amniotic sac. The amniotic sac has a thin but strong membrane filled with fluid that helps keep the fetus warm and safe. When the time is right, the amniotic sac will rupture before the baby is born. However, in this case, the baby still has the amniotic sac intact.
