Martyr Phan Minh Nham (born in 1955, enlisted in April 1974, died on April 14, 1975), was a private in Battalion 2, Regiment 271, Division 3; died while on a mission to fight for national liberation, in My Tho province (now Tien Giang province). The martyr was gathered, buried and laid to rest at the martyrs cemetery of Tien Giang province.
With the consent of the competent authorities and the martyr's relatives, the remains of martyr Phan Minh Nham were moved from the martyrs' cemetery in Tien Giang province to be buried at his hometown martyrs' cemetery in Minh Quang commune, Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province. Previously, the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs coordinated with the authorities to correct information, conduct DNA testing and move the remains of martyr Phan Minh Nham from Tien Giang to his hometown for free.
Lieutenant General Hoang Khanh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, said that Martyr Phan Minh Nham was one of four cases whose identities were verified and information corrected by the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs in July, combining both empirical methods and DNA testing in a series of activities towards the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.
It is known that in the first 6 months of 2024, the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs coordinated with relevant agencies and relatives to fully correct information on tombstones for 125 martyrs and supported the transfer of 122 martyrs' remains to their homeland for burial. For the first time, some martyrs' remains in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces were transported from the South to the North by train (free of charge).
In addition, the Association has consulted 939 martyrs' relatives on policies and finding martyrs' graves, announced 3,510 martyrs' information on mass media, received 413 martyrs' files, and resolved 282 files. In particular, the Association's network in Thai Binh, Binh Phuoc, Hai Phong, and the Central Office discovered and collected 10 martyrs' graves outside cemeteries, received 33 samples of martyrs' remains for examination, and completed the examination of 16 samples, correctly identifying 4 martyrs.
