57 workers hospitalized due to suspected gas poisoning

Information from the People's Committee of Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province said that at noon on February 21, at the factory of Vega Balls Company Limited in Dong Mai Industrial Park, there was an incident where dozens of workers had symptoms of nausea and difficulty breathing, suspected of gas poisoning due to a broken air compressor.

Immediately after the incident, Vega Balls Company Limited, together with the Economic Zone Management Board and the authorities of Quang Yen town, organized to take 33 workers to Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital and 24 workers to Quang Yen town Medical Center for examination and monitoring.

At the same time, Vega Balls Company Limited is required to temporarily stop operations, give workers time off to monitor and assign people to take care of workers with symptoms of gas poisoning.

Up to now, all 57 workers have regained consciousness and are continuing to be monitored at medical facilities.

Quang Yen Town People's Committee has also established a working group, assigned town leaders and functional agencies to be on duty at the scene to direct the work of preventing and overcoming the consequences of the incident.

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Quang Ninh province is continuing to coordinate with other units to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident.

It is known that Vega Balls Company Limited (Vietnam) has about 500 employees, is a subsidiary of Yuan Chi Group (Taiwan) and has the main business line of manufacturing sports and fitness equipment.
