According to the latest ranking of Henley Passport Index, Vietnamese passports can enter 55 countries and territories without a prior visa.

According to the ranking of the most powerful passports in 2024 - Henley Passport Index on January 10, Vietnam ranked 87th out of 104 places, down 5 places compared to the most recent ranking in July 2023. The Henley Passport Index defines "visa-free" as having three categories: visa-free arrival, visa on arrival (VOA) or electronic travel authorization (ETA).

An e-visa does not count as a visa exemption if the traveler requires pre-departure approval from the government of the destination country. This also applies to cases where pre-departure approval is required to obtain a VOA.

Visa-free destinations (23): Barbados, Brunei, Cambodia, Chile, Cook Islands, Dominica, Ecuador, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Madagascar, Malaysia, Micronesia, Myanmar, Niue, Oman, Panama, Philippines, Rwanda, Singapore, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Suriname, Thailand.

VOA Destinations (29): Bolivia, Burundi, Cape Verde Islands, Comoro Islands, Djibouti, Guinea-Bissau, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Malawi, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Palau Islands, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, St Lucia, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Timor Leste, Togo, Tuvalu, Zambia.

ETA destinations (3): Taiwan (Quan Hong visa), Kenya, Sri Lanka

Henley & Partners' rankings are based on data from the International Air Transport Association, a large, accurate database of travel information that has been published annually since 2005. The company publishes the rankings twice a year, at the beginning of the first and third quarters.
