The course had the participation of 1,900 English teachers who met the standards according to the 6-level Vietnamese foreign language proficiency framework at all levels of general education, vocational education - continuing education in the city.
The purpose of the course is to train, educate, and improve international IELTS standards for English teachers according to the National Foreign Language Project; the course is expected to start in August 2024.
To successfully organize the course, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training organized 95 classes, in partnership with prestigious English testing units.
In addition, the course is accompanied and assisted by key English teachers who have attended a training course in Australia according to the plan of the Hanoi People's Committee on teaching and learning foreign languages in schools (Club 200+). Accordingly, Club 200+ will properly implement the responsibility sharing plan; each Club member will support 8 students of the course.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that in Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW of the Politburo on implementing fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training, there was a requirement to "gradually make English a second language". On that basis, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training reported to the leaders of the City People's Committee and was approved to implement this course.
“Hanoi has the largest educational scale and is also the locality with the highest educational quality in the country, but the quality of English has not really met expectations. In terms of rankings, Hanoi's English is ranked 3rd out of 63 provinces and cities. How to improve this ranking index is something that the leaders of the education and training sector as well as the city leaders are particularly interested in,” shared the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
Hanoi always identifies its responsibility to lead other provinces and cities in education and aims to train students who are global citizens, good at foreign languages, and good at IT. To have good students, there must be good teachers.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong requested that the Departments of Education and Training and school principals create the best conditions for teachers to have time to participate in the course, achieve many successes, and contribute to the development of education in the capital and the whole country.
