Government agency websites still contain malicious content
Continuously since the end of last year, the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Department of Information Security have issued widespread warnings, requiring agencies and organizations to review inappropriate content on .gov.vn domain websites of state agencies.
However, at present, the National Cyber Security Monitoring Center under the Department of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications continues to record that there are 15 units, including 10 provinces and cities and 5 ministries and branches whose websites are still being exploited to upload a large number of files with malicious content.
The Department of Information Security has compiled a list of ministries and provinces whose .gov.vn websites still contain inappropriate advertising content and warned the units to urgently handle it.
Previously, according to statistics from the Vietnam National Cyber Security Technology Company NCS, in the first 6 months of 2023, the number of websites of state agencies with the domain name .gov.vn and educational institutions with the domain name .edu.vn that were hacked, infiltrated, and had gambling and betting advertising codes inserted reached nearly 400 websites. This is a relatively alarming number.
AAE-1 submarine cable encounters new problem
Sharing with VietNamNet reporters on September 28, a representative of an Internet service provider (ISP) in Vietnam said that the international submarine cable Asia Africa Europe 1 (AAE-1) had a problem on the morning of September 27.
The cause of the new incident with the AAE-1 submarine cable has not yet been determined. ISPs in Vietnam have not yet received notification from the cable management partner about the expected repair and troubleshooting plan.
Notably, up to now, another international submarine cable line, Asia Pacific Gateway - APG, is also experiencing problems, causing service disruption on the line.
Speaking to VietNamNet reporters, an expert said that the problems with the APG and AAE-1 submarine cables do not significantly affect the provision of international Internet services by network operators to users. The rate of connection capacity lost due to the faults in these two submarine cables on the branch cables towards Singapore is only about 10-12%.
Connecting Vietnam to the Southeast Asian semiconductor ecosystem
With the theme “Connecting Vietnam with the Southeast Asian semiconductor industry ecosystem”, the Vietnam Business Summit, chaired by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Information and Communications, took place in Hanoi on September 29.
At the Conference, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that Vietnam has sufficient conditions to build a domestic semiconductor ecosystem.
“Vietnam is committed to actively contributing to the Southeast Asian semiconductor ecosystem. In the future, we hope that Vietnam will become a reliable partner in the global semiconductor manufacturing supply chain,” said Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.
According to Ms. Linda Tan, President of the Semiconductor Industry Association of Southeast Asia (SEMI SEA), the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam will contribute to the growth of the semiconductor industry in the Southeast Asian region. Vietnam has been attracting more and more large corporations in the semiconductor industry from Korea, Taiwan, and the US.
Emphasizing the importance of the semiconductor industry, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung said that the draft Strategy for the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry to 2030 and vision to 2035 is being developed, and the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Planning and Investment will soon send the strategy for public comments.
According to the Deputy Minister, the strategy will set out the vision, affirm the determination, goals, roadmap, tasks, solutions as well as special preferential policies of Vietnam to develop the electronics industry in general and the semiconductor industry in particular.
At the conference, domestic and foreign experts also shared about the content related to the development of the semiconductor industrial ecosystem in the region and Vietnam.
Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee launches digital management system
