Today (November 30), the family of Mr. Hoang Van Huyen (28 years old, residing in Phuc Than commune, Than Uyen district, Lai Chau) was present at Bai Chay bridge area, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh to wait for news from the search force and hope for a miracle to happen.
Previously, on the evening of November 29, after climbing over the railing of Bai Chay bridge, Mr. Huyen jumped into Cua Luc bay, Ha Long city.
Upon receiving the bad news, Ms. Lo Thi Phuong (19 years old, Huyen's wife) went to Bai Chay bridge early in the morning with the hope of finding her husband.
According to the victim's relatives, a month ago, Huyen and his wife went to Quang Ninh to work and rented a room in Ba Lan area, Gieng Day ward, Ha Long city.
After that, the couple returned to Lai Chau. During this time, Mr. Huyen and his wife had a conflict. Ms. Phuong continued to go to Ha Long City to work.
A few days ago, Mr. Huyen went to Ha Long City to look for his wife but could not contact her. Distraught, on the evening of November 29, Mr. Huyen went to Bai Chay Bridge area and climbed over the bridge railing crying. About 3 hours later, Mr. Huyen jumped into Cua Luc Bay and committed suicide.
According to the victim’s relatives, Mr. Huyen has always been gentle and hard-working. Mr. Huyen and his wife have two young children (1 boy, 1 girl). Due to difficult family circumstances, the two children were sent to their grandparents to take care of while the couple went to work.
The image of Huyen's wife and relatives sitting absentmindedly waiting for news under Bai Chay Bridge made many people feel sympathy. Since last night, people have come to support food, clothes and many ships and boats to search for Huyen.
Secretary of the Party Committee of Yet Kieu Ward, Ha Long City, Ngo Van Ich, informed that before Mr. Huyen jumped off the bridge to commit suicide, he left behind a mobile phone, a brown leather wallet with his citizen identification card inside, and no other assets.
Upon receiving the information, the ward authorities immediately sent forces to search for the victim during the night, but so far there has been no trace of him.
"We have arranged a resting place near the scene for the victims' families in case the search takes many days. With the rainy and cold weather like this, we cannot leave them outside," said Mr. Ich.
As reported by VietNamNet, the incident occurred at around 10pm on November 29, when people passing Bai Chay Bridge discovered a man climbing over the bridge railing with the intention of committing suicide.
At this time, many people came to advise him, but he cried out, citing family conflicts. About half an hour later, the man climbed down the iron frame under Bai Chay Bridge to sit. However, about 3 hours later, the man jumped into Cua Luc Bay.
