Due to the impact of storm No. 3, widespread heavy rain and rising flood waters, thousands of houses in border communes of Nghe An province were deeply flooded and traffic was cut off.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Science and Technology , Viettel Network Corporation (Viettel Group) has opened roaming and telecommunications wave interconnection so that users of all networks can communicate via Viettel waves in isolated areas.

Specifically, Viettel has opened roaming in 27 communes, including 16 border communes, ensuring that mobile subscribers in these areas can basically maintain operations, meeting communication needs for rescue work.

In addition, Viettel is ready with a solution to use drones combined with satellite broadcasting transmission.

Drones fly at an altitude of hundreds of meters, creating a coverage area with a radius of 6km, can reach flooded areas, landslides or mountainous terrain in conditions where roads are isolated and broadcasting vehicles cannot reach, ensuring smooth communication for search and rescue work and people in this area.

Viettel also mobilized hundreds of information rescue teams to support provinces affected by natural disasters; handle incidents of fixed broadband subscribers and repair generators; and reserve information rescue materials to be ready in all situations.

Also on July 24, Viettel Telecom Corporation completed adding money to the accounts of 31,000 customers in areas isolated by floods. Specifically, each customer was given 20,000 VND in their account to call, text and access data to maintain communication during emergencies.

Previously, Viettel Telecom quickly implemented support policies for nearly 4 million customers in areas forecast to be affected by storm No. 3.
