In order for the 2023 high school graduation exam to take place safely and seriously, the new exam regulations clearly stipulate each possible situation, including content related to the responsibilities of candidates.

The Ministry of Education and Training allows candidates to bring into the exam room pens, pencils, compasses, erasers, rulers, calculators without text editing functions, without memory cards; Vietnam Geography Atlas for Geography (without markings or writing any other content).

Compared to last year, this regulation has two new points. First, candidates are no longer allowed to bring any kind of recording device, even if it only has the function of recording information, but cannot be viewed or transmitted.

Second, the Ministry of Education and Training does not specify the list of pocket calculators like previous years, but only requires that the calculators "do not have word processing functions".

The examination regulations also clearly state that at each examination, marking and re-examination area of ​​the examination council, items must be arranged to store and preserve information receiving and transmitting equipment of those performing their duties there. These items must be sealed and managed/supervised by police officers.

Candidates are not allowed to leave the examination room during the multiple-choice test. For essay tests, candidates may leave the examination room and examination area after 2/3 (two-thirds) of the examination time has elapsed, and must submit their examination papers, test questions, and scratch paper before leaving the examination room.

In case of necessity, candidates may only leave the examination room with permission from the invigilator and must be supervised by the corridor supervisor. Candidates leaving the examination room or examination area in case of emergency must be supervised by the police until the end of the examination session and will be decided by the head of the examination site.

This year, the whole country has 1,025,000 candidates registered for the high school graduation exam, about 24,000 more than last year. Of these, more than 917,700 students will use the exam results for both graduation and university admission. The number of candidates taking the exam only for high school graduation is more than 73,200. The number of candidates taking the exam only for university admission is more than 34,200.

Candidates will complete procedures to take the 2023 high school graduation exam on June 27, and take the Math and Literature exams on June 28. On June 29, candidates will take the Foreign Language exam and one of two combined exams: Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civic Education for general education; or History, Geography for continuing education).
