Mr. Narayana Murthy believes that Vietnam will soon become one of the leading developed countries in Asia and the fastest growing country in the world.

On the afternoon of May 20, at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park (Hanoi), a dialogue took place between Mr. Narayana Murthy, a legend in the Indian information technology (IT) industry, founder of Infosys Technologies Company, and the Vietnamese IT community.

Speaking at the program, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Bui Hoang Phuong said that over the past 50 years, the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and India has always been sustainable and developed well. In particular, in the current context, technology has great potential, the development space between the two countries is even greater, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor technology... Vietnam welcomes entrepreneurs and large corporations to visit and invest in Vietnam. The appearance of Mr. Murthy has affirmed the interest and position of Vietnam in the eyes of international friends. IT and digital technology are considered new productive forces, contributing to the modernization of the country.

Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong hopes that Mr. Murthy, with his knowledge and vision, will share with the Vietnamese community management methods, new technology trends, and trends on how to earn billions of dollars for the country; and hopes that Mr. Murthy will call on the Indian business community and other countries to have deeper cooperation, connecting Vietnam with India and the world.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, General Director of FPT and Chairman of VINASA, said that Infosys is considered a symbol of the global information technology industry. Therefore, the appearance of Mr. Narayana Murthy, founder of Infosys, at the event is truly meaningful and creates motivation for Vietnamese technology entrepreneurs in the future.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa said that Vietnam's technology industry has matured with a revenue of 148 billion USD, software and information technology services of 16 billion USD, technology human resources of 1.4 million, and the software industry of about more than 300,000 engineers.

At the dialogue, Mr. Narayana Murthy said that he respects the courage, diligence, discipline and ambition of many generations of Vietnamese people. He believes that many countries in the world need to learn from the creativity of Vietnamese people. He also shared a lot about the journey of starting a business, establishing, operating and developing Infosys to this day.

He believes that businesses are founded by entrepreneurs, who work together to turn ideas into jobs and contribute to the development of the country. Entrepreneurial spirit is not genetic, it is a product of the aspiration in each person.

“They also have an entrepreneurial spirit: daring to dream, daring to dream. In a way, the entrepreneurial spirit helps us a lot in business activities,” Mr. Murthy affirmed. The founder of Infosys believes that technology is always potential, closely linked to socio-economic life, so the demand for products and services in this industry is very large. “I think the demand for technology is always there, because technology is always changing, constantly moving,” he said.

Forecasting Vietnam's future in the next 20-25 years, Mr. Murthy said that with valuable qualities that few countries in the world have, such as courage, confidence, diligence, discipline, and willingness to sacrifice, Vietnam will soon become one of the leading developed countries in Asia and grow rapidly in the world.

“Vietnam will bring prosperity to its people faster than many other countries in Asia. I have no doubt about your future development,” the Indian billionaire emphasized.

Narayana Murthy became an IT legend and was dubbed the "Bill Gates of India" when he transformed Infosys from an unknown company into a symbol of the country's software industry. In 1999, Infosys was the first Indian company to be listed on the US Nasdaq stock exchange. In 2023, the company achieved a revenue of over 18 billion USD, had 320,000 employees, was present in 50 countries worldwide and had a market value of over 70 billion USD. According to Forbes' 2023 statistics, Murthy owns assets worth 4.1 billion USD, ranking 711th among the richest people on the planet.
