The coaching staff of the Vietnamese national team has a new member in the March 2025 training session. Former Korean player Lee Jung-soo has joined coach Kim Sang-sik's assistant team. Mr. Lee has been in Vietnam since late February and accompanied the head coach to watch some matches in the V.League.
Coach Lee Jung-soo was born in 1980, his main position when he played was center back. He won all 3 titles of K-League, FA Cup, League Cup of Korea in the Suwon Samsung Bluewings shirt.

Former defender Lee Jung-soo spent time playing in Japan, winning the Super Cup with Kashima Antlers. After turning 30, he moved to Qatar and won many titles with Al Sadd, most notably the AFC Champions League in 2011.
The name Lee Jung-soo also appeared at the 2010 World Cup. As the main central defender of the Korean team, he played brilliantly and contributed 2 opening goals in the victory over Greece and the draw with Nigeria. Lee Jung-soo was an important factor in helping the Korean team pass the group stage of the tournament in South Africa that year.

Retiring in 2018, Mr. Lee Jung-soo immediately switched to coaching. The former Korean player worked at Ho Chi Minh City club as an assistant to head coach Chung Hae-seong.
In the Vietnam national team, Mr. Lee Jung-soo takes on the role of professional assistant, replacing his compatriot Choi Won-kwon, who left when his contract expired after the 2024 AFF Cup. In addition, Mr. Kim Sang-sik's assistant team also includes goalkeeper coach Lee Won-jae and fitness expert Yoon Dong-hoon. Both were associated with the Vietnam national team during its journey to win the Southeast Asian championship.
