WHY IS THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS INCREASING SHARPLY?
Sharing in the program, Master Truong Thi Ngoc Bich, Director of the Information and Communication Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, commented that this year the number of candidates registering their wishes to enter schools has fluctuated a lot, including some schools where the number of candidates has increased by up to 100%.
According to Master Ngoc Bich, there are many reasons for the above situation. First, this year the number of candidates applying for university admission is higher than last year. Specifically, compared to 2024, the number of candidates applying for admission this year increased by about 115,892 people. In addition, this year is the first time the high school graduation exam and university admission are held according to the new general education program, so many students do not fully understand the exam and admission methods. With many new points in the admission method, candidates have increased the number of registered candidates to ensure safety. In fact, statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training show that this year, on average, each candidate registered for 9 candidates (last year, on average, 5 candidates).
Master Tran Van Trang, Deputy Head of Admissions Department of Saigon International University, added: "An important reason is that this year there is no more early admission, candidates register for all admission methods on the general admission system of the Ministry of Education and Training. In addition, a new point this year is that the admission fee is reduced from 20,000 VND to 15,000 VND/wish, making candidates boldly register for NV. Not to mention, there is also the internal reason of universities in improving quality".
Regarding this issue, Master Nguyen Tran Ngoc Phuong, Director of the Marketing and Brand Development Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that in general, the number of PhDs registering for NV at different schools varies. Some schools have increased, some have remained the same, and some have decreased compared to last year. Particularly at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, the number of NV has increased compared to last year, currently at over 40,000 NV.
Master Phuong analyzed: "The first reason must be mentioned is the efforts of the schools in creating values for learners. Besides, the flexible and diverse admission policies create favorable conditions for learners. The school also has a breakthrough policy on tuition and scholarships for students admitted this year".
Sharing the same view, Master Truong Quang Tri, Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, said that this year the number of PhDs applying for admission to Nguyen Tat Thanh University has increased significantly compared to last year. The reason, according to this expert, is partly due to improvements in training quality, quality assessment, etc. In addition, the diverse, transparent and favorable admission policy helps PhDs more easily choose their majors. In addition, this year the school also has new majors to meet the needs of the future labor market. Some majors that are highly attractive to students this year are related to the health sector.

D PREDICTION OF STANDARD SCORE TRENDS
From the registration status of NV for admission on the General Admission System of the Ministry of Education and Training, experts make predictions about the benchmark score trend this year.
According to Master Tran Van Trang, the expected benchmark score of Saigon International University is basically stable, some majors' benchmark scores may increase by 0.5-1 points compared to the floor score. Candidates can refer to the school's benchmark score in 2024 for more information.
Master Truong Quang Tri also said that majors with a large number of registered PhDs still have fierce competition, and the benchmark score may increase by 0.5-1 point. On the contrary, majors with lower registered PhDs will have a tendency to stabilize or decrease slightly compared to last year. In particular, new majors this year have not attracted much attention from PhDs, so the benchmark score may be at a "breathable" level.
Master Truong Thi Ngoc Bich said that Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance recorded an increase of about 30% in the number of students applying to the school compared to 2024. The benchmark will be adjusted in the coming time, in which the majors related to business - management will have high benchmark scores, the remaining majors will follow different levels. In general assessment of the benchmark score situation of the schools, Master Ngoc Bich also commented: "The benchmark score is based on the quota to recruit the number of students suitable for the training capacity of the school. It is predicted that the benchmark score level of the schools will be stable compared to last year. Some majors have strong attraction for students, the benchmark score will be at a competitive level; majors suitable for the trend of benchmark scores will be at a moderate level...".
Master Nguyen Tran Ngoc Phuong also said that for many years, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology has announced the benchmark scores for each major and each method. Among the school's 6 training majors, the health major always complies with the general regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. "It is likely that the benchmark scores for the school's majors this year will not change much compared to last year. You can look at the benchmark scores for the majors last year to feel somewhat secure," Master Phuong added.
Regarding this year's benchmark scores, Master Truong Quang Tri said that the admission methods and subject combinations must be converted to equivalents according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Regardless of the method of admission (academic transcript scores, graduation exam scores, competency assessment scores, etc.), all will be converted to equivalents. With this method, there will no longer be a large "difference" between candidates admitted to the same major at a school.
NOTES ON SCHOOL STANDARD SCORES
Master Tran Van Trang said that PhDs also need to pay attention to the difference between the floor score and the standard score, the score to receive a scholarship is also different. For example, the floor score for a major is 17, the standard score can be 20 but the score to receive a scholarship can be 25-26 points depending on the school's regulations.
Master Truong Thi Ngoc Bich said that based on the general regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, each school will have different ways of converting points, so candidates need to pay attention to the conversion rate of each school they are applying to.
Meanwhile, Master Nguyen Tran Ngoc Phuong noted: "The first round of admission this year is similar to the previous year, meaning that candidates who have been admitted to a major in NV 1 will not be considered for the following NVs. After being admitted, candidates have the right to refuse admission to consider additional admission. However, candidates need to pay attention to the possibility of the major and school considering additional admission or not."
In about a week, TS will officially know the admission score. According to Master Truong Quang Tri, after receiving the admission results, TS must confirm online enrollment on the Ministry of Education and Training's General Admission System. If this step is not performed, everything done before will be meaningless. In addition to confirming online enrollment above, TS will complete the enrollment procedures according to the school's instructions.
Benchmark scores may be announced from 5:00 p.m. on August 20.
According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, from August 13, training institutions will review data on the General Admission System of the Ministry of Education and Training to carry out the virtual filtering process. After 6 virtual filtering rounds, by 5:00 p.m. on August 20, training institutions will enter the admission scores and admission results into the system; Review and prepare to announce the first round of admission results according to the general schedule.
The percentage of candidates participating in the entrance exam this year is 73.23%.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training as of 5:00 p.m. on July 28 (the last day for candidates to register and adjust their CVs), there were 849,544 candidates registered for university and college admissions with 7,615,560 CVs. The proportion of candidates participating in the admissions this year accounts for 73.23% of the total number of candidates taking the high school graduation exam in 2025.
According to many universities, the number of students applying to schools increased by 100%. For example, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry has doubled the number of students applying to the school compared to last year. Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade recorded more than 100,000 students applying for admission, nearly double the number last year. The total number of students applying to the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has more than doubled compared to 2024.
