Since the beginning of the year, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Inspection Commission have disciplined four officials under the Central Committee's management.
The Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity held a meeting today to discuss and give opinions on the results of implementing the conclusions of the General Secretary since the 27th meeting of the Steering Committee up to now.
The Standing Committee of the Steering Committee assessed that Party committees, Party organizations, and functional agencies have made many efforts, closely coordinated, and seriously and effectively implemented the General Secretary's Conclusion. The work of preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity continues to be implemented resolutely and systematically, without any forbidden areas or exceptions, increasingly better meeting the requirements of Party building and socio-economic development of the country.
Since the 27th session, the prosecution agencies have initiated and investigated 1,132 cases/2,188 defendants, prosecuted 1,201 cases/2,373 defendants, and tried 756 cases/1,672 defendants at first instance for corruption, economic, and position crimes.
Regarding the cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee, 1 new case was prosecuted; 25 additional defendants were prosecuted in 7 cases; 3 cases/76 defendants were concluded for investigation; 1 case/7 defendants were concluded for supplementary investigation; 4 cases/46 defendants were issued for prosecution; 3 cases/40 defendants were tried at first instance; 3 cases/149 defendants were tried at appeal.
The investigation into the case at Phuc Son Group has been completed; indictments have been issued to prosecute the cases at Vietnam Electricity Group, Vietnam Tea Corporation, and Thai Duong Group.
Completed the first-instance and appeal trials of a number of key cases in accordance with the Steering Committee's Plan, including: the case at the Saigon - Dai Ninh project (Lam Dong); the case at the Phan Thiet coastal urban tourism project, Phu Thuy ward, Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province; the case at the Vietnam Register and related units; the case at the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Center (VNCERT), Ministry of Information and Communications.
The Central Inspection Commission, Party Committees, and Inspection Commissions at all levels have completed inspections and strictly handled violations by Party organizations, cadres, and Party members related to cases and incidents occurring at AIC Company, Phuc Son Group, and Thuan An according to the conclusion of the Steering Committee.
Through inspection, 381 party organizations and 819 party members have been disciplined, and disciplinary action has been recommended; including 57 officials under the Central Committee's management. Since the beginning of the year, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Inspection Committee have disciplined 4 officials under the Central Committee's management.
Recovered more than 102,000 billion VND since the establishment of the Steering Committee
The Government and the Prime Minister have focused on leading and directing ministries, branches and localities to review and handle projects that have been delayed and are at risk of loss and waste; reviewed and classified 1,315 public investment projects, non-budgetary investments, and PPP projects with difficulties and problems.
Urgently direct the inspection and handling of difficulties and obstacles in the investment project to build the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital and the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, striving to put them into use this year. Direct the handling of difficulties and obstacles, and soon put into operation and use the project to solve flooding caused by tides in the Ho Chi Minh City area and renewable energy projects that have been built but not yet connected and operated. The Ministry of Public Security's investigation agency and local police have prosecuted and investigated a number of cases of waste according to the motto "handling one case, warning the whole region, the whole field". Those are the case of "Accepting bribes; Violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences" occurring at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hoang Dan Company Limited and related units; the case of "Violating regulations on management and use of state assets causing loss and waste" occurring at the Vietnam Cement Corporation (VICEM) and related units...
The authorities have proactively coordinated to remove difficulties and obstacles in the work of appraisal, asset valuation, and recovery of corrupt assets.
Regarding cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee, since the 27th meeting, the competent authorities have completed 12 conclusions on appraisal and valuation. The civil enforcement agencies have recovered more than 6,000 billion VND, bringing the total amount recovered since the establishment of the Steering Committee to 102,040 billion VND.
Party committees and organizations have paid attention to leading and directing the review, amendment, supplementation and improvement of Party institutions and State laws, focusing on institutions and laws related to the organization and operation of agencies after the reorganization and streamlining.
