On the afternoon of September 20, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Le Thi Thu Hang, on behalf of the overseas Vietnamese community, presented nearly VND19.3 billion to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support compatriots affected by storm No. 3.
Responding to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for donations to support compatriots to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese has developed a Plan and actively coordinated with representative agencies to mobilize and support the receipt of donations and support from the overseas Vietnamese community.
As of September 20, 2024, the amount of donations has reached more than 31 billion VND, of which the amount transferred back to the country is more than 21 billion VND, including the amount that Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang donated today on behalf of the overseas Vietnamese community, which is 19.3 billion VND.
This is the donation from the Vietnamese community in the following locations: Australia, Thailand, Japan, Laos, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Angola, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong (China), Macau (China), Taiwan (China), Mongolia, the United States, the Czech Republic, Nigeria, and Finland. Of which, the Vietnamese community in Thailand alone donated nearly 4.7 billion VND, the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic donated 3.3 billion VND, and the Vietnamese community in the United States donated 105 thousand USD (equivalent to about 2.6 billion VND).
On this occasion, on behalf of the officials, civil servants and public employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang presented 2 billion VND to support people affected by storms and floods.
Previously, on September 13, 2024, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese supported overseas Vietnamese to transfer 602 million VND to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. In addition, organizations and individuals from Germany, the Netherlands, the Vietnamese community in Khabarovsk (Russia), the International Exchange Organization in Japan, etc. also directly presented to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front with a total amount of more than 1 billion VND.
Speaking at the reception ceremony, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien thanked the overseas Vietnamese for sharing the difficulties of their compatriots affected by natural disasters. Mr. Do Van Chien said that the Party and State have mobilized tens of thousands of people to support the people; the Government has also allocated funds for other localities to overcome the consequences; to date, the Front has received nearly 1,500 billion VND and distributed nearly 1,300 billion VND in support money to the localities.
Currently, overseas Vietnamese's donation activities around the world are still being urgently and actively deployed to join hands with compatriots in the country to support compatriots in affected areas to soon stabilize their lives.
