Ho Chi Minh City passes Resolution on expenditure content and expenditure levels for Press Awards

(CLO) On the morning of December 11, at the 20th session of the 10th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2021-2026, delegates voted to pass a Resolution regulating the content and level of expenditure for the Ho Chi Minh City Press Award; supporting good and excellent press works written about Ho Chi Minh City.


According to the resolution, Ho Chi Minh City will support more than 1.9 billion VND for award-winning works in the Party building group; collective works; investigative reports, press reports, documentaries; political commentary; interviews, reports, quick notes; press news and images.

The city will support up to 72 products that win first, second, third and consolation prizes. The highest support level is 80 million VND/prize, the lowest is 10 million VND/prize.

In addition, every quarter, Ho Chi Minh City supports a total of 420 million VND for 70 good and excellent press works about Ho Chi Minh City (equivalent to 1.68 billion VND/year). The highest support level is 8 million VND/work, the lowest is 3 million VND/work.

Thus, including the amount spent on the Ho Chi Minh City Press Awards and the support for good and excellent press works, the city will spend 3.58 billion VND each year on supporting and rewarding press activities in the area.

The Draft Resolution also emphasizes the extremely important role of the press in carrying out political tasks. The press in the city has recently developed strongly in both quantity and quality, form and content, meeting the increasing information needs of the people; is a sharp weapon on the ideological and cultural front of the Party; promptly encourages revolutionary action movements and typical advanced examples. The press has performed well the function of social criticism, propagating the Party and State's guidelines and policies; is a bridge between the Party and the government and the people and the people with the Party and the government.

Press activities in Ho Chi Minh City are considered the most vibrant in the country, with 18 city newspapers and radio stations and nearly 160 representative offices and permanent offices of other central and local press agencies registered to operate in the city.

Therefore, the innovation and improvement of the Ho Chi Minh City Press Awards aims to increase encouragement and motivation for excellent press works, contributing to improving the quality and quantity of press works in the area. This is also a source of encouragement for the press force to join hands and continue to contribute more to information and propaganda work for the cause of socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.
