According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, at the end of the registration period for the 2023 high school graduation exam, Ho Chi Minh City was absent 757 candidates. The Department of Education and Training leader said the number of absent candidates was similar to previous years.

In addition, according to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters, in the afternoon when candidates were completing exam registration procedures, at some exam sites there were changes in staff in the positions of deputy head of exam sites and exam site secretary.

Regarding this information, Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in the process of establishing the examination sites and the examination site management board, the Department's staff had a wrong understanding of personnel regulations. Right in the early afternoon, when candidates began to complete the examination procedures, the Department of Education and Training discovered and promptly adjusted at some examination sites that the deputy head of the examination site and the examination site secretary were not leaders and heads of professional groups of high schools.

Mr. Nam informed that after adjusting and mobilizing staff and teachers according to regulations to take on the duties of deputy heads of examination sites and secretaries at some of the above examination sites, the Department conducted training on examination regulations. These are teachers who have participated in organizing examinations in Ho Chi Minh City for many years.

Through this, Mr. Nam also expressed: "The Department of Education and Training hopes that the teachers who were previously transferred and the newly transferred teachers will sympathize and share so that the exam can be organized successfully."

Candidates also bring many personal belongings.

Also this afternoon, leaders of the testing sites said that candidates still brought many personal items such as backpacks, handbags, and phones into the testing sites, causing the process of storing items to take a lot of time.

At Colette Secondary School (District 3), Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoang, head of the examination site, said that when discussing the examination regulations, the invigilators focused on reminding candidates to minimize the amount of unnecessary items they bring. This would cause them to waste a lot of time when checking in their belongings, affecting their psychology when taking the exam.

It is known that according to the regulations for the 2023 high school graduation exam, all exam sites in Ho Chi Minh City will be arranged with an area to store candidates' personal belongings. This area is at least 25 meters away from the exam rooms to ensure safety and seriousness for the exam.

However, in this situation, the Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City further instructed that candidates should only bring to the high school graduation exam site items that are really necessary for the exam and the exam process. These items should be kept in a white, colorless shirt folder. Candidates should not bring other items such as backpacks or handbags to the exam site.

Tomorrow morning, June 28, candidates will take the literature exam (120 minutes) and the math exam in the afternoon (90 minutes).
