General Secretary To Lam shared his impressions of visiting Busan and witnessing the city’s potential and development achievements. The General Secretary said that in recent years, thanks to the active support of the State and people of the two countries, and outstanding Korean businessmen, including Mr. Park Soo Kwan, bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially the economy , has developed at a fairly high rate.

Vietnam and South Korea continue to be each other's top important partners; people-to-people exchanges and local cooperation are taking place vigorously.

The community of people from this country in the other country basically integrates well, makes many contributions to the socio-economic development of the host country and plays the role of a bridge of friendship for the relationship between the two countries.

The General Secretary said that with the goal of strengthening Vietnam's diplomatic presence in the southern region of Korea and meeting the increasing needs of the Vietnamese community and local partners, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to establish a Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan city.

In order for the work of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan to be carried out smoothly and operate effectively, the General Secretary hopes that Mr. Park Soo Kwan will continue to pay attention, support and create the most favorable conditions for the Consulate General in the coming time.

The Mayor sincerely thanked General Secretary To Lam and his wife for choosing Busan as a stopover during their visit to Korea and to attend activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of cooperative relations between Busan and Ho Chi Minh City.

Busan City plays an important role in promoting economic cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general, including the important contribution of Busan enterprises in Vietnam. The city wishes to cooperate closely with Ho Chi Minh City to contribute to the goal of making Busan a global administrative center.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated the city on its great achievements in development, becoming the second largest economic center of Korea and the fifth largest port city in the world. With its geographical location closest to Vietnam, Busan city maintains good relations with Vietnamese localities.

The General Secretary said that at the high-level talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, the two countries' top leaders reached a common understanding of supporting and being ready to create all favorable conditions for local cooperation.

Considering this a strategic opportunity for Busan and potential localities of Vietnam to enhance substantive cooperation, General Secretary To Lam suggested that Busan city continue to expand cooperation with provinces and cities of Vietnam; support the business community to expand investment in Vietnam, especially in priority areas such as science and technology, satellite urban development, trade centers, logistics centers, infrastructure construction, and tourism facilities.

In addition, sharing experiences in development models and smart seaport operation systems located in one of Vietnam's key coastal economic zones; strengthening connections and supporting Vietnam in the film industry.

Mayor Park Heong-joon pledged that Busan city will continue to closely coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities of Vietnam to strengthen substantive cooperation in areas where the two sides have complementary strengths, contributing to practically concretizing the high-level agreements between the two countries.

The city government is ready to support and facilitate the activities of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan; at the same time, continue to have policies to protect the legitimate rights of Vietnamese citizens...
