100 million VND reward for male student who won Gold Medal at International Olympiad in Informatics

On August 11, at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted ( Gia Lai ), the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting, commended and awarded a prize worth 100 million VND to Le Kien Thanh, the male student who won the Gold Medal at the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics in the capital Sucre, Bolivia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, congratulated and praised Le Kien Thanh, and thanked the Board of Directors, teachers and parents of Le Kien Thanh for their hard work in educating and nurturing him.

“This victory not only brings honor to the family and school, but also contributes to glorifying the homeland and country of Vietnam in the international intellectual arena. Gia Lai province is proud of you - a typical example of studiousness, aspiration to rise up and integrate globally,” said Mr. Lam Hai Giang.

At the award ceremony, Le Kien Thanh expressed his gratitude to his teachers and family - who have always been a solid support for him to pursue his passion. The journey to conquer the Gold Medal at the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics is not only about hours of hard training, but also about training perseverance and high concentration.

According to Le Kien Thanh, the biggest challenge when arriving in Bolivia was the time zone difference and the cold weather which made him lose sleep due to fatigue. However, thanks to careful preparation and a strong spirit, he quickly adapted to complete the exam in the best way possible.

During his time studying at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Le Kien Thanh achieved many outstanding achievements such as: First Prize in Provincial Informatics for Grade 12 and Second Prize in National Informatics in 2022-2023; First Prize in Provincial and National Informatics, First Prize in the Specialized Category of the 29th National Youth Informatics Competition in 2023-2024; Gold Medals of ICPC National and ICPC Regional Asia Hanoi in 2024; and Gold Medal of the International Olympiad in Informatics in 2025.

The 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics took place from July 27 to August 3 in the capital city of Sucre, Bolivia. The Vietnamese delegation had 4 contestants participating and all won prizes: Le Kien Thanh won the Gold Medal; Dang Huy Hau (Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong) and Nguyen Bui Duc Dung (High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , Hanoi National University) both won Silver Medals; The Bronze Medal belonged to Ninh Quang Thang (Ha Long High School for the Gifted - Quang Ninh).
