Aspiring to become a happy person Duong was born in Thai Nguyen in a family where both parents are teachers. In 2017, while studying at junior high school in his hometown, he was honored to receive the title of outstanding student of the province. When he entered high school, Duong's family decided to send their son to study at Nguyen Tat Thanh Junior High School and High School, Hanoi National University of Education. "In the first days of living in the capital, I was quite bewildered. At 5am every day, I woke up to catch the bus to school. An independent life started with the smallest things like cooking rice, finding my way to school and studying by myself...", Duong recalled. During his 3 years at Nguyen Tat Thanh Junior High School and High School, Duong always had the best academic performance with a total score of 9.5, 9.6 and 9.7 respectively. Here, he held many different positions, from Secretary of the Youth Union and class monitor to deputy secretary of the school's Youth Union. With the above achievements, Duong was admitted to the automation major of Hanoi University of Science and Technology through the talent selection process. "I thought I was not suitable for the university, so I decided to choose the National Economics University to pursue my passion for business. The reason I chose the National Economics University is because first of all, economics is the field that I am passionate about and interested in. In addition, at this school, when connected to the business network along with many extracurricular activities, I think I will have a lot of "land" to develop," Duong recalled. "On the opening day, a new student representative spoke. I sat below and thought, if one day I could stand on the podium and speak, how happy my relatives would be. Thinking so, I set a goal of becoming the valedictorian of the whole school," the male student said. Ability must be proven through practice. Sharing about his academic and research achievements, Hoang Duong remembers the first time he came to the National Economics University, he accidentally met a very friendly and open Associate Professor. The teacher looked at him and said, "This guy has potential for scientific research, do you want to try it?" At that time, he had no idea what scientific research was like, but thanks to the teacher's encouragement, he started researching and gradually became passionate about it. With each opportunity to participate in writing and publishing research, he learned lessons to train his thinking and expand his academic knowledge. Therefore, he devoted a lot of effort to learning and improving through each scientific research publication. Answering Dan Tri reporter about how to balance between studying and extracurricular activities when he did very well in all fields, the male student said that he divided his time equally between studying and participating in clubs. Duong jokingly said that maybe because he learns faster than everyone else, he doesn't need to spend too much time studying, so he has more time to participate in other activities. According to this male student, his biggest desire is to become a happy person and bring happiness to others. Regarding his career, he tries to become a good businessman or manager in international business, and may choose to study higher in the coming years. "Whether or not he is capable depends on practical experience. I want to demonstrate my ability through work in the future," Duong said.

Sharing about his excellent student, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thuong Lang, senior lecturer, Institute of International Trade and Economics, National Economics University said: "The first day I met the student sitting alone at school, I asked him which school he attended, what grade he was in, and if he did scientific research? The boy with a bright and agile face shook his head and said he did not know how to do scientific research. The story of the teacher and student began with the awards he received in high school and the topic suggestion I gave him. He started doing it, faltering at first, then mastered it, and then Duong did more and more scientific research," Associate Professor Lang said.
