On August 6, a senior White House official said that multinational technology corporation Apple pledged to invest an additional $100 billion in the United States, bringing the total investment to $600 billion over the next four years.
"Apple's announcement is another win for American manufacturing and will bring critical component production back to the United States to protect our economic and national security," White House spokesman Taylor Rogers said.
The official announcement of Apple's additional investment is expected to be made at 4:30 p.m. on August 6, US time (4:30 a.m. on August 7, Vietnam time) at an event at the White House attended by US President Donald Trump, who is pursuing an aggressive tariff and trade agenda to bring manufacturing back to the United States.
Previously, in February, Apple announced plans to spend $500 billion on investments in the US over four years, including building a giant factory in Texas to produce Artificial Intelligence (AI) servers, while creating about 20,000 more jobs in research and development across the US.
