Within the framework of the working program to collect opinions on the development of the "Project on developing biological industry in the economic and technical sectors of Industry and Trade" at a number of units, on the afternoon of June 26, 2024, the working delegation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade had a working session with the Institute of New Technology and the Institute of Materials Chemistry under the Military Science and Technology Institute.

The working delegation led by Dr. Nguyen Viet Tan - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology expressed his wish to hear comments from units to absorb appropriate contents in all fields, and include them in the project to be submitted to the Government by the end of 2024.

Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Trang Minh - Deputy Director of the Military Science and Technology Institute said that the Institute has a strong staff that has participated in and is the focal point of many different research fields. Through this survey, Colonel Minh hopes that the two sides will have more mutual understanding, and establish a longer-term cooperation roadmap in the future in the fields of biotechnology and processing industry.
Dr. Dang Tat Thanh, representing the Ministry of Industry and Trade, presented an overview of the development of the biotechnology industry in Vietnam.

Colonel Dr. Pham Kien Cuong - Deputy Director of the Institute of New Technology presented a report on Scientific and technological products in the field of environmental biology serving the army.
Representing the Institute of New Technology, Colonel Dr. Pham Kien Cuong - Deputy Director of the Institute presented a report on Scientific and technological products in the field of environmental biology serving the army with 10 research and development orientations and 3 key orientations on biotechnology. The products mainly focus on creating foods for soldiers in harsh conditions, quickly detecting toxins in the environment, isolating biological toxins from plants, etc.
Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Manh Truong - Deputy Director of the Institute of Materials Chemistry wishes to promote cooperation in the field of biotechnology with the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Reporting to the delegation, Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Manh Truong - Deputy Director of the Institute of Materials Chemistry said that the Institute has participated in many research projects on biotechnology drugs inside and outside the Industry and Trade sector, which have been accepted and well evaluated. In the coming time, the Institute wishes to promote cooperation in this field with the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
During the meeting, members of the Project Drafting Team also shared their opinions with the units on the need to closely follow the issues of the industry, propose specific issues and implement them effectively, creating products with high applicability and economic value.
Concluding the working session, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Viet Tan affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade was very fortunate to have coordinated with the Military Science and Technology Institute during the first phase of the Bioindustry Project. In the second phase of the Project, Mr. Tan noted that units need to continue to propose tasks to the Department of Science and Technology for synthesis; Ministries and branches all implement Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW dated January 30, 2023 of the Politburo on the development and application of biotechnology to serve the country's sustainable development. The Military Science and Technology Institute is the leading unit participating from the perspective of the Ministry of National Defense and continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to develop tasks for the common development of the country.

Mr. Tan also requested the Military Science and Technology Institute to direct its member units to make specific proposals in writing, the working group will receive the documents to absorb the proposed contents, so that the application of science and technology activities into enterprises can be upgraded to a technical economic sector. The Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also hopes that, as a research unit of the Ministry of National Defense, the Military Science and Technology Institute will connect enterprises to actively participate in Phase 2 of the Project on developing biological industry in the technical economic sector of the Industry and Trade sector.
On the side of the Military Science and Technology Institute, Colonel, Deputy Director Nguyen Trang Minh said that the role of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in building the bio-industry is very clear. The Institute will direct relevant units to synthesize task proposals, report to the Ministry of National Defense and then send them to the Ministry of Industry and Trade according to the correct procedure. Colonel Minh also shared that the scale of defense production has its own characteristics, therefore, it is expected that in evaluating the results, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also needs to take into account specific factors different from normal research topics.

After the working session, the scientists and the delegation visited the laboratories and production facilities of the Institute of New Technology and the Institute of Materials Chemistry.
