Launching digital platform to promote Vietnam - US trade

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Vu Ba Phu - Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade said that Vietnam - US trade has grown strongly in recent years. 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - US diplomatic relations, opening up a path of increasingly substantive cooperation, especially in the field of trade. Two-way trade turnover between the two countries has increased nearly 300 times, from 451 million USD in 1995 to 132 billion USD in 2024. The US is currently Vietnam's largest export market and second largest trading partner.

Mr. Phu commented that the global trade context is changing rapidly with the increase of technical barriers, traceability requirements, ESG standardization and new tax policies. Notably, the US's application of a 20% reciprocal tax rate on some export items from Vietnam shows significant challenges in the coming time.

According to a representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the establishment of the Vietnam-US international B2B e-commerce trading platform is not only a technical solution but also a strategic step, demonstrating the proactive vision of Vietnamese enterprises in finding a transparent and effective trading model, reducing dependence on traditional distribution chains, especially for small and medium enterprises.
