Báo Dân SinhBáo Dân Sinh21/11/2023

Recently, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Quang Ngai province has organized dialogues with poor and near-poor households in localities in the province. This is a practical way, with the form of direct dialogue, not only helping poor households to be provided with information on local support policies for poverty reduction, but also creating conditions for the poor and near-poor to express their wishes to the relevant agencies to have more motivation to strive to escape poverty sustainably.

Participating in the dialogue program between the poor and near-poor with functional agencies organized by the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Ms. Truong Thi Lan (65 years old) in Chau Thuan village, Binh Chau commune (Binh Son) brought many wishes.

Ms. Lan is in poor health, and the family's finances depend on her husband. But last year, her husband was diagnosed with lung cancer, and her children are all grown up and working far away, unable to help their parents. "My husband and I's health has been deteriorating, so we haven't had much work and our income is unstable. That's why our family keeps falling into the poor household list," Ms. Lan said.

This year, Ms. Lan is determined to escape poverty. To achieve that goal, she participated in a dialogue to share her desire to borrow capital to raise livestock or to receive support in learning a suitable trade to improve her life and develop her family's economy. At the dialogue, not only was she encouraged and motivated, and listened to the sharing of effective economic models, Ms. Lan was also given specific instructions by representatives of the relevant agencies to complete the procedures for accessing preferential loans and how to participate in vocational training classes for poor and near-poor households.

In addition to Ms. Lan, people in Binh Chau commune also expressed many wishes such as receiving capital support to invest in converting boats, changing to suitable jobs, and hoping for housing support and policies for poor households with serious illnesses...

In Son Ha commune (Son Ha), at the dialogue, many people said that livestock and crop farming are the strengths of the locality, so it is necessary to pay attention to opening training courses on related occupations to help people have basic knowledge to develop livestock and poultry, build a forest garden economy. At the same time, many issues related to support policies for lonely elderly people with no place to rely on, policies to support tuition fees for children to go to school, policies on partial support for medical examination and treatment costs for the poor, policies on social insurance... were also raised by poor and near-poor households in Son Ha commune.

In fact, more and more poor and near-poor people are interested in and learning about the support policies of the Party, the State, and the province, thereby accessing appropriate policies to escape poverty. Poor households when coming to the dialogue all expressed their determination to escape poverty. At the same time, they also want to be "motivated" by policies suitable to their family's conditions.

For each specific question, the poor and near-poor were answered specifically and satisfactorily by representatives of relevant agencies, departments and branches. Not only were they provided with necessary information, but through direct contact sessions, the poor households felt the encouragement and sharing of the relevant branches for each person's situation. Each poor household has a different situation and reason for difficulty in escaping poverty, but the poor have all expressed their desire and determination to escape poverty. The clear change in the awareness and consciousness of the poor and near-poor has shown the effectiveness of this dialogue program.

Many families in Quang Ngai province have escaped poverty through traditional occupations.
