Speaking at the program, Dr. Phuong Nguyen, Co-founder and Medical Director of Nuoy, said that Nuoy was formed from the International Cooperation on Plastic Surgery (RICE) project initiated by Professor Joseph M. Rosen in 2000. Over the past 25 years, Nuoy has developed into a non-profit organization based in the United States and is licensed to operate long-term in Vietnam.

According to Dr. Phuong Nguyen, the name “Nuoy” has two meanings: “nurturing” and “medical”, reflecting the goal of caring for, training, and developing safe, affordable surgical services. Nouy aims for a future of “health equity” where everyone in the world can access surgical services - no matter how you were born, rich or poor, you deserve access to the highest standards of health care and medical treatment.

To achieve this goal, Nuoy has implemented many outstanding projects in regenerative medicine, including programs for craniofacial surgery, microsurgery, hand and foot malformations, and organized dozens of seminars and workshops to improve the capacity of Vietnamese doctors. As a result, in the period 2022 - 2024, Nooy has made important strides in expanding access to reconstructive surgery, improving local medical capacity, and strengthening domestic and international cooperation. Specifically, 510 patients have been examined and treated; 194 surgeries have been performed successfully; more than 600,000 USD in medical equipment has been donated; 41,000 USD in scholarships have been provided to Vietnamese doctors...

At the program, Dr. Phuong Nguyen honored the contributions from the team of doctors, volunteers, universities, businesses and government agencies that have accompanied the organization over the past 25 years. He said that in the coming time, Nuoy will continue to expand surgical programs; promote the donation of more medical equipment as well as organize seminars and workshops to train and transfer techniques to Vietnamese doctors.
