On the evening of September 1 (Hanoi time), US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, on behalf of the US government, sent congratulations to the Government and people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 78th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2023). A VNA correspondent in Washington quoted a statement from the US State Department as saying that Secretary Blinken affirmed that the US supports a strong, prosperous, independent and self-reliant Vietnam.
