On October 4, Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong, Director of the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital (Quang Binh), said that on the evening of October 2, a patient was brought to the hospital for emergency treatment with symptoms of abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, and slow pulse. Although medical staff actively provided emergency care, administered intravenous fluids, washed the stomach, and placed a pacemaker, the patient died later.
According to Mr. Cuong, the victim died from eating toad meat.
Today, Thanh Nien reporters contacted the leaders of the People's Committee of Mai Thuy Commune (Le Thuy District) and learned that the victim's identity was Mr. DTĐ, 24 years old, residing in Mai Thuy Commune but working and renting a house in Dong Hoi City (Quang Binh).
Notably, there is currently much conflicting information regarding the cause of Mr. D's death.
Specifically, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, the leader of Le Thuy District Medical Center said that when they sent staff directly to the victim D's house to investigate, the family said that when they went to the rented room where D lived, they could not find toad meat, only saw a pot of tuna soup left.
Regarding this conflicting information, Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong, Director of the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital, added that the information about the patient suspected of "eating toad meat" was recorded by doctors and nurses from those who directly brought Mr. D. to the hospital for emergency treatment.
