Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the information that US President Joe Biden allowed Ukraine to use long-range missiles to attack Russian territory was a dangerous signal, emphasizing that this move could escalate the conflict.

On November 17, US media reported that the Biden administration had lifted restrictions on arms aid to Ukraine, including allowing Kiev to use ATACMS ballistic missiles to attack Russian territory.

This is also part of the "Victory" plan launched by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in September after the attack on Russia's Kursk region.

According to Mr. Peskov, Moscow's position on this issue was made clear by Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this year. He also emphasized that attacks on Russian territory from Ukraine cannot be without support from Western intelligence and NATO advisers.

Moscow asserted that such an attack would mean "NATO countries are at war with Russia".

Asked whether US President-elect Donald Trump would reverse the decision when he takes office in January, Peskov declined to comment directly. Instead, he warned that if the information was confirmed, the conflict would inevitably enter a new spiral.

During his campaign, Mr. Trump repeatedly said he could end the Ukraine crisis within 24 hours if elected. The Republican candidate’s supporters have accused President Biden of undermining Mr. Trump’s promises by escalating the conflict.

Neither the US nor Ukraine have confirmed the information. The Ukrainian president said in a message on the evening of November 17 that "the attacks were not carried out with words" and stressed that when the missiles were fired, we would all know.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military has carried out several long-range drone attacks on Moscow over the past two weeks.

Mr Zelensky's administration has also opposed Western diplomatic activities with Russia that have taken place since Mr Trump won the election on November 5. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz unexpectedly resumed dialogue with Russia with a direct phone call with Mr Putin.
