The Red River rose high, causing many alleys in Hong Ha and Chuong Duong wards (Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi) to be deeply submerged in water. Last night, the water receded, leaving behind a large amount of mud on the streets.

Mr. Tran Van Thanh, Head of Group 3, Phuc Tan Ward (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) said that the post-flood cleaning work was carried out early by the people in the ward, cleaning as the water receded. If the silt is not cleaned immediately, it will be flooded and dry, making it difficult to clean, so we mobilized the people to clean up immediately after the flood receded. The people responded enthusiastically and actively cleaned up to avoid environmental pollution and avoid causing diseases.

“This morning, people woke up at 3am to clean up. People in the ward are very united, helping each other clean up with a spirit of mutual love. After cleaning, we will ask the authorities to provide chemicals for disinfection, and at the same time, encourage people to disinfect the whole area, do a general cleaning, and avoid infectious diseases such as dengue fever,” said Mr. Thanh.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of Phuc Tan Ward People's Committee shared that before the flood, implementing the direction of the City Party Committee, the City People's Committee and the District Party Committee, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the Ward People's Committee had evacuated all households in the Red River bank area, moved to safe places as well as temporary shelters. The Ward People's Committee arranged 3 temporary shelters, one is Phuc Tan Primary School, the other is the District Sports Center and the location 360 Phuc Tan. After the flood receded, the leaders of the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee paid great attention and directed the forces of the district's departments and branches to Phuc Tan Ward and Chuong Duong Ward to support environmental sanitation work to avoid epidemics and waste pollution.

“The Ward People's Committee will hire units to trim the trees to remove any garbage stuck in them. After cleaning, the Chairman of the District People's Committee will directly direct the spraying of disinfectants in the entire area of ​​Phuc Tan and Chuong Duong wards, especially the area along the Red River to prevent the outbreak of disease,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong.
