(Baoquangngai.vn) - Speaking at the ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Bui Thi Quynh Van expressed that the Party Committee, government and people in the province are always proud of the life and revolutionary career of comrade Vo Phan; an outstanding son of the homeland of An Mountain - Tra River; nurtured by the Party and the revolution, he devoted his whole life to the cause of fighting, national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland.

On the morning of April 13, at the hometown of comrade Vo Phan, in Lam Loc Nam residential group, Tinh Ha town (Son Tinh), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the birth of comrade Vo Phan (April 10, 1915 - April 10, 2025), former Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Front Council (in 1964).

Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the central and provincial leaders, there were Central Party Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee Nguyen Quang Duong; Central Party Committee member, Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province Pham Viet Thanh; Central Inspection Committee member Vo Thai Nguyen; Director of the Department of Employment (Ministry of Home Affairs) Vu Trong Binh; Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee Deputy Secretary Ho Xuan Truong. On behalf of the Military Region 5 delegates, there was Colonel Luong Dinh Chung - Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 5.

On the provincial leadership side, there were Central Party Committee member, Provincial Party Secretary, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Bui Thi Quynh Van; Deputy Provincial Party Secretary, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang; Deputy Provincial Party Secretary Dinh Thi Hong Minh; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; representatives of leaders of relevant agencies, units, departments, branches and localities.

At the ceremony, leaders, delegates, family and relatives of comrade Vo Phan reviewed his life and revolutionary career; expressed gratitude for his great contributions to the cause of national liberation and construction of the homeland and country.

Comrade Vo Phan (real name Vo Gioi, alias Vo Van Nghi), was born on April 10, 1915 in Lam Loc village, Tinh Ha commune, now Lam Loc Nam residential group, Tinh Ha town (Son Tinh). He was raised in a family with a tradition of patriotism and early revolutionary awareness. From the age of 15, he participated in guard duty, communication, and served secret meetings of the Party cell in Lam Loc village, Tinh Ha commune. His family's house became a meeting place for cadres from the province to the grassroots.

In 1937, Comrade Vo Phan was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party. Immediately after joining the Party, he was assigned to be the Secretary of the Lam Loc village Party Cell, then was elected to the provisional Son Tinh District Party Committee Executive Committee and was assigned to be the Secretary of the Tinh Thuong General Party Cell. In a short time, he established many more Party bases in the western communes of Son Tinh district.

From 1938 to September 1939, comrade Vo Phan was appointed as Secretary of Son Tinh District Party Committee. With the assigned responsibility, he led the revolutionary movement in the district to develop more and more.

In October 1939, comrade Vo Phan was arrested by the enemy and imprisoned in Quang Ngai prison, then transferred to Tra Bong prison. While in prison, he participated in establishing a party cell in the prison, with comrade Nguyen Cong Phuong as secretary. In October 1942, comrade Vo Phan was transferred to Ba To detention camp. Here, he and other imprisoned party members visited him through relatives to assign tasks, connect with old party members and revolutionary bases to restore and develop the revolutionary movement, and build party organizations in districts in the province.

On March 11, 1945, comrade Vo Phan and 16 other comrades (including his uncle Vo Nhip, younger brother Vo Thu, brother-in-law Nguyen Cu and his uncle Le Dong's younger brother) directly participated in the uprising, successfully captured Ba To post, and contributed to the establishment of the revolutionary government of Ba To district.

After the Ba To uprising succeeded, comrade Vo Phan was assigned by the Provincial Party Committee to return to the plains, responsible for building the Party organization in Son Tinh district and the western communes of Tu Nghia district, and directly serving as Head of the Son Tinh District National Salvation Movement Committee. In June 1945, the Son Tinh Provisional District Party Committee was re-established, with comrade Vo Phan as Secretary and concurrently Head of the Son Tinh District Uprising Committee. Under the leadership of comrade Vo Phan, the revolutionary movement in the district developed strongly.

In February 1960, at the first Provincial Party Congress during the resistance war against the US to save the country, comrade Vo Phan was added to the Standing Committee of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, in charge of the Finance Department.

In 1964, he was appointed Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Frontline Council. He and the Provincial Party Committee proposed many policies and measures, leading the army and people in the province to continuously rise up, gradually defeating the enemy's plot of "concentrating people and establishing strategic hamlets". From January 1965 to the end of 1972, he was assigned the following tasks: Deputy Head of the Economic and Financial Committee of Zone 5; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Frontline Council and Head of the Economic and Financial Committee of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, then Deputy Head of the Economic and Financial Committee and Deputy Head of the Production Committee of Zone 5.

After 46 years of continuous revolutionary activities, in March 1976, comrade Vo Phan was allowed to retire by the Party and the State. On April 16, 2014, comrade Vo Phan passed away. Having devoted 100 years of his life, 77 years of Party membership to serving the revolution, serving the Fatherland, serving the people, and making tireless contributions to his homeland and country, he was honored to be recognized by the Party and the State with noble awards, such as: Ho Chi Minh Medal, First Class Independence Medal, 75-year Party membership badge and many other noble medals and orders... Above all, the greatest legacy he left behind was a shining example of patriotism, revolutionary spirit, indomitable will and noble sacrifice.

Speaking at the ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Bui Thi Quynh Van expressed that the Party Committee, government and people in the province are always proud of the life and revolutionary career of comrade Vo Phan; an outstanding son of the homeland of An Mountain - Tra River; nurtured by the Party and the revolution, he devoted his whole life to the cause of fighting, liberating the nation, building and defending the Fatherland; contributing to resounding victories. The victories of the Ba To Uprising, the Tra Bong Uprising and the Western Quang Ngai (August 1959), the Van Tuong Victory (August 18, 1965);... all had his contributions.

The life, revolutionary career and great achievements of comrade Vo Phan have many valuable lessons for the Party Committee, government and people in the province to continue to learn, follow and apply in their work.

Along with that, promote administrative reform, build a streamlined organizational structure and a team of cadres, civil servants and public employees that operate effectively, efficiently and effectively; focus on developing science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; effectively promote potentials and advantages to further develop the province's economy and society.

On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Comrade Vo Phan's birth (April 10, 1915 - April 10, 2025), the former Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, concurrently Chairman of the Frontline Council (in 1964), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province donated 100 million VND to Comrade Vo Phan's family, to organize a celebration with the family.
