On August 30, Vietnamese volleyball fans were ecstatic with the emotional victory of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team against the world's 35th and Asia's 4th ranked team, South Korea. The victory was marked by the number 1 hitter Tran Thi Thanh Thuy when she scored a total of 25 points (20 attack points, 5 block points). Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh also contributed greatly with 13 points, including powerful attacks at the net.

At the beginning of game 2, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh attacked, hitting the ball with great force towards the double blocker of the Korean team. The ball went through the blocker, causing the middle blocker Park Eun-jin behind to not have time to dodge and was hit in the face. Stunned by Kieu Trinh's "cannon shot", Park Eun-jin collapsed on the court and had to leave. It was not intentional nor did she break the rules, but as soon as she saw her opponent hit in the face, Kieu Trinh immediately apologized and looked very worried. Fortunately, Park Eun-jin did not suffer any serious injuries and returned to the court from game 3. That was also the time when the Vietnamese women's team rose strongly, from losing 0-2 to tie 2-2 and then completed a spectacular comeback against Korea.

Sharing after the match, hero Tran Thi Thanh Thuy said: "It was a surprise to win this match because we all know that the Korean team is very strong and has good serves. We had difficulty in the first step but the whole team joined hands to fight, overcome everything to be happy with the victory". Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet is still not over the joy after the unbelievable comeback of his students and said that this was a match in which the Vietnamese women's team played with more than 100% of their strength. He expressed that he was thrilled to witness such a good match of his students.

With this impressive victory, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team accumulated 6.2 points for a total of 77.7 points and remained ranked 47th in the world. Meanwhile, with the loss to the Vietnamese team, the Korean team dropped 3 places to 38th in the world.
At 6:00 p.m. on August 31, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh and the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will play the second match of Group C, the 2023 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship, against the Uzbekistan team (ranked 69th in the world).
