Continue to "nurture the flame" in maintaining and using Vietnamese in France
The Vietnamese Bookcase Abroad is a cooperative initiative between the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the Vietnam Overseas Vietnamese Language Center for those new to learning Vietnamese (Vietnamese, generations of Vietnamese origin living abroad, children of multicultural families with Vietnamese elements, etc.); Vietnamese language teachers and Vietnamese language researchers in the community. This is one of the activities within the Project "Day to honor Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community in the period 2023 - 2030".

Attending the event were Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Head of the Committee for Vietnamese Nationalities in France; Mr. Dinh Toan Thang, Vietnamese Ambassador to France; Mr. Pham Vinh Thai, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Education Publishing House; members of the working delegation and the Community Working Committee of the Embassy, along with representatives of Vietnamese associations in France, teachers, parents and children.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and all delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang thanked the delegation for visiting and working in France with many meaningful activities, including the Ceremony to Honor the Vietnamese Language and the opening of the Vietnamese Bookshelf to serve the Vietnamese community in France.
Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, Mr. Dinh Toan Thang and Mr. Pham Vinh Thai shared with the children about the Vietnamese Bookshelf.
Emphasizing that this activity is important to maintain, develop and spread the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese in the Vietnamese community in France, the Ambassador affirmed that supporting, accompanying and encouraging the community to maintain cultural identity and preserve the Vietnamese language is one of the key tasks of the Embassy.
Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang also expressed his belief that with the diverse activities of the Project on Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the Overseas Vietnamese Community (OCV) actively implemented by domestic and foreign authorities, the Vietnamese community in France will continue to nurture the flame of maintaining and using the Vietnamese language, especially among the young community and the Vietnamese community in France; hoping that the Vietnamese language movement in France will develop even more strongly in the coming time.

Replicating the model of Vietnamese language training classes for people living abroad
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her joy and emotion at the positive response and large participation of overseas Vietnamese, including four generations of overseas Vietnamese, at the ceremony. She emphasized her pride when the ceremony to honor Vietnamese language and culture was held at the space of the Vietnam Cultural Center in Paris, France - one of the few centers in the world owned by the Vietnamese community.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her gratitude to the Vietnam Education Publishing House for always accompanying the UBNNVNVNONN in maintaining, teaching and learning Vietnamese in the CĐNVNONN.
Responding to the Deputy Minister, Mr. Pham Vinh Thai, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Education Publishing House, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Vietnam Association of Overseas Vietnamese in promoting the teaching and learning of Vietnamese in the overseas Vietnamese community; at the same time, he affirmed that the Vietnam Education Publishing House will coordinate with the Vietnam Association of Overseas Vietnamese to continue researching and compiling Vietnamese language textbooks suitable for the language and characteristics of the local community, as well as expanding the model of Vietnamese language training classes for overseas Vietnamese.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Education Publishing House Pham Vinh Thai, along with delegates, teachers and children, solemnly inaugurated the Vietnamese Bookshelf for the community at the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France. This will be a driving force to fuel the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese in the Vietnamese community in France.
Vietnamese language bookcases abroad include many types of books: Vietnamese teaching and learning materials; comics for children (stories that develop intelligence, inspire; popular science stories, etc.); reference materials, advanced supplementary materials (including reference books that help improve Vietnamese reading comprehension, bringing readers to the treasure trove of Vietnamese folklore and contemporary literature); Vietnamese monographs for those who teach and research Vietnamese, etc.
The bookshelf also provides QR codes to access the Vietnamese language teaching program for overseas Vietnamese children based on the Hello Vietnamese book series. The program is implemented by the Vietnam Education Publishing House in coordination with the Foreign Television Department - Vietnam Television, broadcast regularly from April 2023 on VTV4 channel, digital platforms and introduced to Vietnamese communities around the world.
Recently, the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the Vietnam National University, Hanoi have launched three Vietnamese Bookcases in Fukuoka (Japan); Budapest (Hungary); and Taiwan (China).
