Opening of the 2024 National Music and Dance Festival, Phase 1

On the evening of November 21, at Vinh Phuc Provincial Theater, the first phase of the 2024 National Music and Dance Festival officially opened. The festival gathered nearly 1,000 artists, actors, and technicians from across the country to compete.

The first phase of the 2024 National Music and Dance Festival was scheduled to take place from September 7. However, due to the impact of storm No. 3 (storm Yagi ), the festival was postponed and will be held from November 21 to 30.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong emphasized that the National Music and Dance Festival, held every three years, has affirmed itself as a national brand among music and dance festivals in our country.

This is an opportunity for artists and actors working in the fields of singing, dancing and music to demonstrate their talents as well as their desire to create and contribute, continue to nurture their passion for their profession; at the same time, they can exchange, gain experience and improve their professional qualifications.

Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized that the National Music and Dance Festival is one of the bases for state management agencies to properly assess the current state of performing arts activities, propose methods of operation in each stage; thereby orienting the arts, finding solutions to overcome limitations and weaknesses; and promoting the development of the performing arts sector.

The 2024 National Music and Dance Festival has the participation of 13 art units. Each art unit participates in 1 program or play with a duration of 60 to 110 minutes. The types of art participating in the festival are very diverse, such as general music and dance; Western art forms (symphony, musical, ballet, vocal drama, Broadway, opera) ...

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will award Gold and Silver Medals to groups and individuals with quality and creative programs and plays; and Excellent Awards to art directors, program directors, play directors, orchestra conductors, musicians, choreographers, painters, costume designers, lead singers, lead dancers, and main musicians...

After the opening ceremony, the Viet Bac Folk Music and Dance Theater performed the musical "Going to the Sun".

The first round of the 2024 National Music and Dance Festival will take place at Vinh Phuc Provincial Theater (Vinh Yen City, Vinh Phuc Province) and open to the public for free.
