iPhone 16 will have major design changes

According to Android Authority , although the iPhone 15 series has switched to USB-C and ditched the sharp edges for a gentle curve, they are still said to resemble the iPhone 12 series. With the upcoming iPhone 16, the design will bring a bigger change as Apple may explore different button and camera layouts, even adding a camera shutter button to the iPhone.

The report is based on a pre-production design of the standard iPhone 16 model, internally known as the DeLorean - the car featured in the famous Back to the Future movie. Based on these details, the report simulates what the iPhone 16 could look like with the options that have been given.

First up is the gold iPhone 16 model that comes with a different camera layout, with a similar case design to what Apple used on the iPhone X. It also has a unified volume rocker and Action button. The unified volume rocker was supposed to provide haptic feedback but was scrapped due to technical issues.

The second iPhone 16 model is pink, includes the Action button but separates the volume rocker into individual buttons.

Finally, the iPhone 16 model comes in black, with a larger Action button and a new Shutter button. The Action button is expected to be capacitive rather than mechanical, which is the design Apple is expected to use in the final version. On the right is the new Shutter button - a capacitive button developed internally under the codename "Project Nova".

The button is said to have a force sensor in addition to a “haptic switch” function, though it’s unclear exactly what that means. Judging by its name and location, it’s likely to be used as a shutter button for the camera. If any problems arise during development, Apple will move on to alternative design options that don’t include a Shutter button.

The report adds that the front of the iPhone 16 won't have any noticeable changes. The product is still in the early stages of development, so there are many options that Apple could use from this point on. Whatever the choice, fans are really expecting Apple to create a completely new design for next year's iPhone generation.
