On the afternoon of February 23 (January 14, the year of the Dragon), at the special national relic of the tombs and temples of the Tran Dynasty kings, Tien Duc commune (Hung Ha), a clay cannon contest took place.
Hung Ha district leaders awarded first prize to Thong Nhat village.
This year's competition has 5 teams from 5 villages in Chi Lang commune (Hung Ha), each village has 10 gunners. Each gunner makes 3 oval-shaped firecrackers, 4-8 meters long, weighing about 20-27 kg. Each time the firecrackers are thrown and turned over, a stick is used to measure, the team with the longest firecracker string wins.
Hung Ha district leaders awarded second prize to Tien Phong village. The Organizing Committee awarded consolation prizes to 3 villages: Minh Khai, Quyet Thang, Tran Phu.
At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to Thong Nhat village, the second prize to Tien Phong village; 3 consolation prizes to the villages: Minh Khai, Quyet Thang, Tran Phu.
The clay firecracker competition attracted a large number of participants.
The process of making fireworks must be meticulous and elaborate.
Each gunner makes 3 oval-shaped fireworks, 4 - 8 meters long, weighing about 20 - 27 kg. Each time the cannon is thrown and turned over, a stick is used to measure it. The team with the longest cannon line wins.
This is a folk game that recreates the way to train the health, diligence, endurance, and dexterity of the Tran Dynasty soldiers in the past. Until now, the clay cannon competition in the Tran Temple Festival is still preserved by the people of Hung Ha district.
