Through 38 Resolutions

On the morning of July 17, the 17th session of the 10th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2021-2026, closed. Attending were Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai.

At this session, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council discussed and voted to pass 38 resolutions, such as: Resolution on socio-economic tasks, including the policy of building a project to develop Ho Chi Minh City's urban railway; 3 Resolutions on adjusting and supplementing the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025; 33 Resolutions related to the fields of education, urban areas, public investment projects, organization and arrangement of commune-level administrative units and resolutions in various fields to meet practical needs and serve life...

In her closing speech, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le stated that after 2 and a half days of serious work, the 17th session had completed the contents of the proposed program. This session was honored to receive the affection and attention of Comrade Nguyen Van Nen - Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, who attended and gave directions on the city's socio-economic development and the focus of activities of the City People's Council in the last 6 months of 2024 and the following years. The Standing Committee of the City People's Council respectfully accepted the 6 directions of the Secretary of the City Party Committee at the session in the spirit of "Listening and being responsible, wholeheartedly handling the people's problems".

The City People's Council will continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of supervision activities to promptly detect and propose adjustments and supplements, focusing on supervision of: State management of labor and employment, construction order in the area; organizing the implementation of Resolution No. 98; supervision to resolve pressing issues of the people (related to environmental protection, solid waste treatment, social insurance regime settlement; shortcomings in apartment building management in the area; projects lasting for many years; flood prevention, traffic jam reduction; real estate management, public management, sidewalk management...).

Discuss 8 content groups

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, at the meeting, 44 delegates of the City People's Council spoke with more than 150 opinions at the discussion sessions. The discussion content included 8 groups of issues: economic development; education, social, sustainable poverty reduction (amending Resolution 13 of the City People's Council); urban, environmental groups, targets for implementing the Resolution of the City Party Congress, the implementation of the annual theme; the implementation of Resolution No. 98, reports submitted to the City People's Committee at the meeting.

The session also conducted questions and answers with 21 delegates asking questions and 36 related opinions to the Director of the Department of Information and Communications, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Tan District on network security, information, communications, digital transformation of the city, and contents revolving around public investment, focusing on education projects, ensuring schools according to the Resolution of the City Party Congress, and contents of State management on food safety for the Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Tan District.

Also at this session, the City People's Council supervised the "Implementation of the administrative reform program (ARP) on reforming the administrative apparatus and reforming the public service system in the city for the period 2022-2025". Through supervision, it was found that the city's administrative reform work has been implemented drastically in the past time. On the basis of the PAR program, including the implementation of the reform of the apparatus and the reform of the public service system, the departments, branches, districts, and towns of Thu Duc City have seriously implemented it and achieved important results.

Strive for GRDP in 2024 to reach 7.5% - 8%

In order to continue effectively implementing the 2024 theme "Determination to effectively implement digital transformation and Resolution No. 98/2023/QH15 of the National Assembly", the Standing Committee of the City People's Council requested the City People's Committee to deeply analyze, assess the context, and forecast early socio-economic situations in the last 6 months of 2024 to proactively respond, focus on investment, and support industries and fields that are and are likely to encounter difficulties in the coming time.

Seek practical and effective solutions to actively implement resolutions, directives and conclusions of the Central Committee; Resolution No. 93/NQ-CP dated June 18, 2024 of the Government on key tasks and solutions to promote growth, control inflation and stabilize the macro-economy; ensure socio-economic development goals in 2024; focus on achieving the highest results for 18 key economic, social, national defense and security targets in 2024 according to the resolution of the City People's Council, including the target of striving for a GRDP growth rate of 7.5% -8% in 2024.

Continue to focus on key projects and works according to Notice 1239 of the City Party Committee, especially 26/38 projects that still have difficulties and problems that need to be monitored and directed to ensure implementation progress and disbursement results according to the assigned capital plan. Continue to care for the material and spiritual lives of the people, policy families, workers, and people in difficult circumstances; strengthen dialogue between the government and the people, dialogue between the Chairman of the People's Committee of the district and ward with the people according to regulations.

The City People's Council also received the voters' recommendations and reflections, and assigned the responsibility to the Standing Committee of the City People's Council to coordinate with the City People's Committee to direct the resolution of these recommendations. Immediately after the session, the Standing Committee of the City People's Council, the Committees and delegations of the City People's Council are responsible for closely coordinating with the City National Assembly Delegation, the City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and member organizations to step up supervision and propaganda work to the people and voters of the City to participate in the effective implementation of the proposed resolutions.
