With 39 individual and team gold medals, Hanoi is among the units that contributed the most gold medals to the Vietnamese chess team at this year's tournament. It is worth noting that many Vietnamese players participated in the tournament with their own funds.

This year's tournament took place with the participation of hundreds of players of all ages from Southeast Asia, along with players from China, India, Japan, New Zealand and Korea.

As for Hanoi chess, in the composition of athletes participating in this team and contributing to the Gold medal, besides the players who have affirmed their abilities such as Dinh Nho Kiet, Dau Khuong Duy... there are also a number of other players who have attracted attention. Among them is player Nguyen Xuan Phuong, competing in the U.8 age group. This player won 5 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal for individuals and teams in standard chess, rapid chess, and blitz chess, and is one of the few players with the most achievements in this year's tournament.

According to the Hanoi coaches, to achieve the above achievements, chess player Nguyen Xuan Phuong received maximum support from his family by taking him by bus and motorbike from Son Tay town to the Hanoi chess team's training location at 14 Trinh Hoai Duc (Dong Da district) for more than half a year.

Over the past 2 years, the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center has coordinated with Son Tay Sports and Son Tay Chess Club to focus on training young player Nguyen Xuan Phuong to have stable professional development. This is also part of the cooperation agreement to support the development of Son Tay sports, discover and select high-performance athletes in Hanoi between the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center and Son Tay town.
