A representative of Vietnam Airlines said: about 40 minutes after takeoff, a Korean passenger, sitting in seat 17G, suddenly showed signs of poor health and fainted. The flight attendants immediately implemented first aid measures and provided necessary medical support according to emergency response procedures on the flight.

Due to the passenger's health condition showing no signs of improvement, the flight crew decided to divert the plane and make an emergency landing at Da Nang airport so that the passenger could receive necessary medical assistance from the ground as soon as possible.

Upon receiving information from the flight crew, Vietnam Airlines representatives at Da Nang airport quickly coordinated with the airport authority, airport medical units and relevant authorities to deploy an emergency approach plan to the aircraft. The passengers were then transferred to the hospital for further treatment.

According to the hospital, the passenger's health condition has stabilized after receiving timely emergency care. Vietnam Airlines has also sent staff to accompany the passenger's relatives, continue to support necessary procedures and closely monitor the treatment process.

After completing medical support, flight VN837 continued its journey and landed safely in Siem Reap at 7:10 p.m. the same day.

"The emergency landing is a timely and necessary decision in a special situation, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and close coordination between aviation and ground units. Although adjusting the itinerary may incur costs and affect flight schedules, we always put the safety and health of passengers first in all operations," said a representative of Vietnam Airlines.

This is one of many cases in which Vietnam Airlines has adjusted its itinerary to assist passengers in need of medical assistance. Previously, on July 6, flight VN56 from Hanoi to the UK had to divert to land at Kolkata Airport (India); on June 30, flight VN7569 from Hanoi to Nha Trang had to land in Da Nang; and on June 16, flight VN158 from Da Nang to Hanoi landed at Phu Bai Airport (Hue) to provide emergency care to passengers.

Vietnam Airlines advises passengers to proactively monitor and self-assess their health status before each trip. In case of noticing any unusual signs, passengers should consult a doctor promptly and consider taking the flight to ensure health safety.
